I think this is a fascinating topic for discussion as well as how the world would look had American independence not occurred, but as to be expected from Vox, the reasons cited in this article center mostly around the evil, racist white man in America.

There might not be an EU today as most of the continent might have suffered the fate of Eastern Poland and the USSR might still exist. Christ out of Christmas...oh god here we go. Christians have done more damage to the image of Christ than any tree-hugger could possibly do. There's a few reasons fewer and fewer Americans identify as Christian/or religious and it has nothing to do with liberals.

In my opinion, it has to do with who speaks for the Republican Christians in America. The people who speak for this group come across as angry, bitter, and full of hate. I think the people themselves are nothing like that for the most part - you just have a really ****** PR system in place.

Playing is a play on words, but you know that. I think nearly everyone on this board respect most if not all what Deez posts. However, that particular quote could be easily reversed to say democrat versus republican and whatever negative rhetoric the RNC touts.

Given your description of Huckabee and Cruz, I doubt very seriously you never get any information from the national media. A standard counter argument of liberals I hear on MSNBC, Progress on XM and other liberal sources is to throw out "must be bitter old white man" or "must be racist" when they have no answer. I have never been called a pissed off old white man, but if the shoe fits for you, I will wear it.

The only thing that can be quantified in this discussion is if either of those 2 men have a chance of being elected POTUS. Time will tell. My belief is that Huckabee has zero chance and Cruz has only a remote chance. And by remote, I mean very remote.

I just read this Rick Perry quote this morning and it reminded me of this thread.

"My fellow Republicans, beware of false prophets. Do not let itching ears be tickled by messengers who appeal to anger, division and resentment," the former Texas governor said.

He was talking specifically about Trump, but Jeb Bush has also made similar comments about the Republican field in general. I guess they watched MSNBC before the speeches so they'd know what to say.
