Under the heading of "better late" is NOT always "better than never":

The mental giants in Las Colinas have agreed to hire Oliver Luck as a consultant. Kinda like saying "I should have pulled out" after the kid is ten years old. Sometimes you just can't fix stupid.

I fear some will be so astonished by this news that it may cause cardiac arrest.

For that Bowelsby will pay him seven figures. Oliver is one of the smartest people you will ever meet - ask anyone that was in law school with him. Bowelsby on the other hand is one of the dumbest.

Best news for the "left behinds" is that Oliver is smarter than the commissioners of the BigTen, ACC, Pac, & Bowlesby all put together.

I guess this confirms that Big Xii leadership reads this forum. You have been screaming for the Big XII to get Luck for years.

My gut feel is he is there to see how the Big12 parties (individuals, programs, and "conference") as a whole can reap the most benefit as they close shop.

Insider nuggets from Tuesday's practice

(The applicable 247 piece titled "College Football Realignment Not Done Yet" is attached to this practice teaser page..if it works correctly.)

If Bowelsby had any honor he would commit harikari. with a dull instrument. What a fantastic failure of leadership.

Seriously, just 12 years ago the big 12 was having 4 or 5 teams in the top 10. We had a good thing going.Just a couple of years removed from that he was overseeing a long slow flush, making bad decisions at every turn, and making sure only the turds remained in the bowl after the flush.

I don’t think he could persuade lemmings to jump off of cliffs. Lemmings might get wise and stop doing it if he tried.

of course it didn’t help that we did not have good strong leadership. The rest of the Big 12 teams have to admit that a weak UT was bad for the conference. Sorry, not sorry.

More evidence of my belief that the eggheads running academia should not have a seat at the table when hiring decisions are made for the BUSINESS of college athletics. Bowlsby gets hired, screws the pooch and should have been fired, but instead they hire someone who they should have hired for the job long ago to tell Bowlsby what to do. Now they pay double.

Too often hiring a consultant is an admission that they do not have the stones to fire or the knowledge to hire. A try and buy?
