Wake Forest is a good draw

Amazingly, they're probably one of the fewer teams in the tourney that has played worst than Texas down the stretch. They've lost 5/6 games including a complete throttling (83-62) from 12-seeded Miami in the ACC Tourney. Their resume consists of a few nice wins (Richmond, Xavier, Maryland, Georgia Tech, Clemson), but their only road win over an NCAA tourney team was @ Gonzaga and the were aided in that game when Elias Harris (Gonzaga's leading rebounder and 2nd best scorer) was ejected. 6 of their 10 losses were to teams that didn't qualify for the tourney. No team in the tournament has less wins than Wake (19 - tied with UH).
Records: Texas 24-9 / 9-7, WF 19-10 / 9-7
RPI: Texas 29, WF 37
SOS: Texas 43, WF 29
Record vs Top 100: Texas 8-8, WF 9-10

We should
win this game.

First, I give props to Wake for even scheduling Xavier and Richmond. Those are two strong teams in a surprising A10. Still, I gather those were home wins and they didn't have to travel far for either victory.

In terms of we SHOULD win, well what can ya say at this point? We should've won a lot of games this year. Or maybe we shouldn't have and maybe we should have lost a lot more games early on. Who can really tell at this point?

Wake is a great draw. Kentucky is a terrible draw. At least we'll get to see the vaunted John Wall/Avery Bradley matchup that somehow elevated AB to the #1 spot in ESPN's high school rankings. I bet he plays inspired ball in that game (if we get there). James vs. Patterson should be similarly awesome. Can't say I like many of the other matchups though...

Yeah, but as I pointed out, while they are playing like ****, they have a player who is a particularly tough matchup in Aminu, who is 6'9", runs the foor, and is quick in the half court. Texas doesn't really have anyone who matches well with him on defense.

Wake will present another big front line, as the have McFarland (7'0"), Weaver (6'11") and Woods (6'11") combining for 50 minutes a game, plus Aminu, plus Stewart (6'7") playing about 17 minutes a game. That's about like Baylor.

McFarland isn't just any stick, but he has a hard time with people who put a body on him, witness this video

OK, just kiidding about that. He isn't real fast, but has some dexterity, and he moves his feet pretty well for his size.

Smith is a good assist man (8th in the country), but not a long range shooter. Harris and Stewart are the long range threats. As a team, they have poor assist/turnover ratio and low steal totals, but they get out on opposing shooters, allowing just 38% from the floor and 29% on three pointers.

^^^^^rickysrun- I agree with you, but how did it get to this point? We won 17 consecutive games, enroute to our first in-season #1 ranking ever! What happened to this team.? They have all of the ingredients for a championship team, but I personally think it was a combination of unlikely poor coaching and poor team chemistry!

I heard that, too. He hasn't looked very quick and still can't play for more than 5 minutes at a stretch.

^^^ makes you wonder how Oliver Miller who was 300lbs his entire life got himself to be the 22nd pick in the draft. That fat *** could play ball and I don't know about the quantity of his minutes, but his quality of minutes was outstanding. Work ethic? Nolan Richardson threatening his life?

Having a hard time trying to figure out the New Orleans tourney. Does the UT/Wake winner play Kentucky on Saturday?

Does the winner of Baylor/SHSU play ND/OD winner on Saturday.

Somebody help me with the TV schedule. It says Regional and I assume, me living in Texas that for the most part I am going to get the Texas game. I know they do in and out's which drives me batty when I want to watch my team.

Does anybody know anything different, CBS.com is not very helpful, too many advertisements not sure what is what and ESPN is just awful.
