Wade vs Dirk

Ok, I'm a Maverick homer, but I don't have any illusions about the Mavs chances (Denver is clearly the better team) the title this year, but JESUS! The Mavs just look at Dwayne Wade a few years ago and the whistle goes off, yet Kenyon Martin can absolutely mug Dirk on the perimeter and we get nothing...

I guess Cuban's rants against the officiating is starting to bite him in the ***....

I mean, c'mon, it's so obvious...

That Heat series lost teh NBA a ton of fans. Couple it with the Kings Lakers debacle and the ref admitting he was helping shave points and you have the WWWNBA. And none of those W stand for women.

The only issue is if Stern is going to allow ESPN to sit in on the coreogrophy sessions like Vince McMahon did.

Whether you're a Mavs homer or not, you may be right. However, Dirk needs to be more aggressive and he'll get the calls. Playoff time is extremely physical (look what Damp was doing to Duncan) but the aggressor gets the benefit of the doubt.

The head scratcher to me was Anthony Carter bearhugging Kirk while he was trying to set a high screen. How is that legal?

Any time Dirk misses a shot, he complains to the refs about getting fouled. Maybe if he didn't whine so much, he would get more calls. He needs to quit being a pansy and just play.

I stopped watching the NBA late in the Finals between the Mavs and the Heat because it became obvious that the refs weren't going to allow the Mavs to win. The drive to the basic where a stationary Dirk took an elbow to the ribs by Dwayne before he (Wade) faded away for a missed hook and got the call...

...I said "Oh, the Mavs aren't going to be allowed to win.

I was commenting to a guy from Wyoming who lives in Denver on Saturday night that I didn't know if the Mavs were going to win because I don't know who the refs have. He then told me who the ref was for the Mavs/Heat game and went off on how he agreed that the game calling is totally slanted.

I still don't watch the NBA, so when I saw that the Mavs beat San Antonio to start the series in SA and then won games 3 & 4, I read up on the series. I didn't think that the refs would allow the Mavs to beat the Spurs. But when I saw that SA was basically a two man team and that they had no chance after the Mavs, I realized that the league was going to let the Mavs win because SA couldn't advance anyways.

I was going to say that no league is as controlled by the refs as the NBA until I thought about how arbitrary the strike zone is in baseball. (Why the balls and strikes are not electronically called is mindboggling.)

Basically either the league or the refs will not allow the Mavs to win. Mark Cuban has called them out for poor officiating and/or cheating (it depends how you look at it) and they will punish him until he is out of the game. It's just a crap league.

Magic was the same way. Always running around with his mouth wide open if they called a foul on him.

Duncan whines, yes, but he doesn't flail his arms and flop around (don't think I ever seen him do an obvious flop) then complain that he didn't get the call.

Dirk is a good actor. In the game last night I think Chancey Billups cleanly broke a double team and Dirk just drops himself and gets the call. That's fine, many good players act. They just don't complain when they don't get the call.
