wade a bit premature

Heard Dwayne Wade say that it's good to be part of "arguably the best 3-some in the history of the game".

um, wow.

Bird, McHale, Parish
Magic, Worthy, Kareem
Willis Reed, Dave DeBusschere, Bill Bradley
Jordan, Pippen, Rodman
even Garnet, Pierce, Allen
Russell, Cousy & anyone

I'm quickly turning into a fan of anyone playing the heat.

The only groups that are even in the same galaxy are the top two. Allen, Garnett, and Pierce? Those dudes aren't even the best on their OWN TEAM.

How did these two work out?

Kobe, Shaq, Malone (maybe most talented of all time w/ Payton)
Hakeem, Pippen, Barkley

Baylor was on the downside of his career when Chamberlain showed up in LA, but he still managed a pair of 20-10 seasons in Chamberlain's first two years with the Lakers, so I have to think Chamberlain, Baylor, and the logo are contenders. Interestingly, they didn't win the title until after Baylor retired.

Edit: BTW, it's "Dwyane," spelled like it should rhyme with Diane.

The Miami triplets have talent, but it's WAY premature to talk about them being the best threesome of all time.

Best thing they have working for them is that all three are, age-wise, in their prime. However, Wade's the only one that's played on a championship team, and that's largely because the Mavs couldn't finish what they started.

How good the Heat become is going to depend a lot on what kind of talent is put around the trio. Not enough, and it will be three against five most nights, and even they aren't talented enough to beat those odds. I think the folks on South Beach need to tap the brakes a bit.

Well, to be fair, as a straight male, it is my dream team and would be my best "3-some of all time". But I think it is fair to say that most guys on this board would be happy subbing in for me.

I know exactly what I'm talking about. 2 out of 3 being in their prime is much less impressive than all 3. I don't care what Malone did in his prime, he was a shell of himself when he played the one season with LA. So X that one out.

The important Houston triumvirate was the first one. The second one was worse, but it was not hyped as being as potent and nobody expected nearly as much. Not a good example.

I guess people thought highly of the former Houston trio, but nothing like this.

I think the 95-96 Bulls threesome deserve special mention (Jordan, Pippen, Rodman). A 72-10 regular season, 15-3 playoff run, 1st in points per game, and 3rd in points allowed per game. Of course this threesome won two additional titles.

Some may dismiss this threesome as not as worthy because of Rodman. While he was there (95-96, 96-97, 97-98), the Bulls ranked 3rd, 6th, 3rd in opponents points per game while ranking 1st, 1st, and 9th in points per game. He averaged 14.9, 16.1, 15.0 rpg during the same time frame. The Link

I think this threesome is certainly within shouting distance of the top two and Lebron/Wade/Bosh.

it is definitely "arguable" especially since they don't have a roster, have yet to play a game and sure as hell haven't won anything. they have LOTS to prove.

Hook'em!!!

Jordan may be an ***, but I'll take Jordan and 2 logos over this bunch. 6 titles pretty much says it all. Magic/Kareem/Worthy were all #1 draft picks and won 5 titles together. This current group needs to win before shooting off their mouths.

Unless you run an offense like the triangle, I still think you need a point guard. Maybe Lebron plays point forward, but someone has to penetrate or you end up shooting jumpers all game.

I don't think they are "running their mouths." They're just excited about finally playing with decent teammates after rather unspectacular ones to date. And they probably want the city to relish in that same excitement.
