W. Tisdale dead.

I remember him from back in the day. I didn't dislike OU like I do now and enjoyed watching him play.

And if you aren't familiar with his jazz music - awesome.

RIP

Damn. Wayman was a good man. A few weeks ago, I noticed him on the upcoming schedule for the Arena Theater in Houston and took that as good news.

T & P to the Tisdale family. God just added a great musician to his band.

Very depressing news. My favorite Sooner of all time. Great person, great player. His smile lit up entire rooms. RIP WWT (Wonderful Wayman Tisdale, as he was called by his adoring fans).

He was a helluva college player and good pro. Moreover, he seemed like a person who added to the human experience, not just as an athlete but as an artist. If everyone had the impact he did on lives, the world would be a better place.

RIP Mr. Tisdale.

Everytime you hear of someone with cancer, you hope they beat the odds, but cancer wins out a lot more than it doesn't.

No matter my feelings about OU, Wayman Tisdale was a player I loved to watch. He combined talent with enthusiasm, and he was a great player, no matter the color of his uniform.

Tisdale was no one trick pony. He had a fine career in the NBA, then a few years later shocked people by becoming one of the top smooth jazz bass players. I've enjoyed his music as much or more than his game, and that's saying a lot.

My condolences to his family...he'll definitely be missed by this Longhorn fan.

I saw a BET Jazz special on him and it was awesome, just like he was and will always be in my menory. Respects to his family, friends, fans and all.

We all like to make fun of OU, but sometimes you need to drop that silliness and realize there are more important things in life, like honoring a good person.

RIP, Wayman.

44 years old. F cancer.

This guy was only 3 calendar years older than me, but he was so much larger than life. I was in Jr High in the OKC area when he went OU. Every 5-8ish white post player wanted to be like "wonderful Wayman". He took a state that didn't give a rip about basektabll and made it the hottest ticket in town. We would buy standing room only tickets to watch him play. Back then after the games they would you roam up to the locker rooms and wait for the players to come out. He would always come out with that smile on his face. He couldn't help it. It is who he was.

He made 1st team AP all american as freshman. The other 4 guys on the team were Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, Ralph Sampson & Dale Ellis. Not bad company. Was the MVP of the tourney in Hawaii as freshman. That toruny had UNC w/ Jordan, Perkins etc. and ASU with Byron Scott.

The world is not as quite good of a place today.

Wayman was a very good player, but more importantly seemed to be a great person.
Prayers to him and his family.

I've been tearing up all weekend. You just will never meet a better individual than Wayman Tisdale. I'm from Tulsa and Wayman was a hero of mine as a kid. An angelic person who literally ever time I ever saw him he was smiling.

King of Leon did a tribute to Wayman last night on their performance on the Tonight Show. See drumset #23:

RIP Wayman.
