With Rori's shooting that's 8 for 30 from the starting backcourt, and 3 for 13 as a team from beyond the arc. Free throws were sloppy also at 22 for 33. We'll definitely need to tighten that up quickly.SIDEARMLiveStats
Morris and Gonzalez go a combined 4 of 18. Maybe Vic had them working harder at perimeter defense.
Looks like our inside players dominated tonight. Hope Gaston is ok.
Ndjakalenga with a nice stat line - really showing what she can do. If she can get the foul problem fixed, look out.
Probably right on that. I think that's one of the reasons Vic's not real happy right now. The other one is, we will likely face the #6, #7 and #5 teams in the nation between 11/14 and 11/21. So there's not much time to get things fixed.I assume that Wayland Baptist played a zone. So the shooting numbers weren't very good again in terms of perimeter jump shooting, especially from the three point line. I know it's early, but that area is still a huge question mark.
Outside shooting will always come and go. Stats from one game are essentially meaningless to project forward onto the rest of the season. With Rori's shooting that's 8 for 30 from the starting backcourt, and 3 for 13 as a team from beyond the arc. Yep, it was the free throws I was referring to. We have to to better and 75% I can be okay with. Three point shots are great when they're going in, but they're typically not high percentage shots (with a few exceptions). You live by the long ball, you die by the long ball.Outside shooting will always come and go. Stats from one game are essentially meaningless to project forward onto the rest of the season.
Free throws, however, should be a little better than 2 of 3. Get that to 3 of 4 and we're solid.
We're going to lose some games early. Vic mentioned in a presser that there.is no defensive stopper (JAT, Audrey)..and the they hadn't got the defense down yet. We're taking Morris and Gonzales who are offensive minded guards and asking them to learn to play the type of defense required by Vic. I can definitely see their offensive numbers suffering.Probably right on that. I think that's one of the reasons Vic's not real happy right now. Agreed! A couple of losses early might not be such a bad thing. That would reveal what it's going to take to have the kind of success the rankings think we're capable of. You know Vic's plan is to have it all come together by post season as in the previous two years. We're going to lose some games early. Vic is all about the process of improving. Would that more fans could maintain that perspective as well.Agreed! A couple of losses early might not be such a bad thing. Post-game presser, but no players this time. Vic "not real fired up" with 61 point win.
Has anyone heard anything about Gaston? She left the court early in the third and never returned to the bench.
Clearly, you don’t know how this works.Wayland IS an NAIA school. Huge win margin should be tempered.
That was absolutely true in 1975. In 2022????Clearly, you don’t know how this works.
- Step 1: Beat the Flying Queens.
- Step 2: Win the National Championship.
That was absolutely true in 1975. In 2022????
