Voting twice on March 4th

Vote twice?

If this has already been posted, my apologies. I did a search but didn't find a matching thread.

I've heard this from several sources. That there is no "Texas Primary" but rather a Texas Caucus and 31 State Senate District Primaries. And that you can cast your vote twice on Tuesday, March 4th...

That is true and all voters should show up to their precinct convention/caucus. I was once a precinct chair and it's an interesting show to be sure. This time should be something else.

Great way to see politics in action.

2/3 of the delegates from each precinct are chosen by the voting that takes place today through the 29th and on March 4th.

1/3 are chosen at caucases the evening of the 4th.

If you vote in the primary, you can vote in the caucus. You must have voted in the primary to vote at the caucus.
A few of things to remember:

You can vote early at any voting location. The poll workers are supposed to give you a receipt proving that you voted in the primary. If you want to vote at the caucus, MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR RECIEPT. In an ideal world there will be voting records at each caucus site showing that you voted in the primary but don't count on it. Be proactive.

You must caucus at your regular polling location and you do not have to stay for the entire time. You can show up, sign up for the candidate you support and leave if you want to.

You CAN vote in the democratic primary if you are a Republican and no you will not then be a registered Democrat. Since the republican nom is pretty much decided, if any republicans want to put their .02 in on the dems side, now's your chance.

Happy Voting!

So every precinct has a caucus? I did not know that. The Texas Primary is usually a formality as the nominees have already been determined, so I have never paid close attention to the details.

I early voted this morning and you will receive a receipt that will allow you to attend the caucus. Make sure they issue one to you and of course don't lose it!
