Volleyball Showdown Wednesday Night

UT Volleyball took down KSU in 5 sets in Manhattan last night. The victory sets up a showdown for the Big 12 title Wednesday night against Nebraska at Gregory. Match is at 8pm and tickets are going fast. For those not in Austin, the match is on ESPNU.

I'm stoked for this one - it's going to be a GREAT matchup. We won the first time, obviously, but really had to work for it.

Tickets are still up for that thing? No way. We had a guy from Capitol of Texas Nebraskans call Sports Nightly (local Husker talk show on our statewide network) just last week, in fact, and he said tickets were well on their way to being sold out for this match. What gives?

The game is not necessarily for the Big 12 title, as both teams still have a few conference games remaining.

If NU wins on Wednesday, that gives them a 2 game lead over Texas, and probably clinches the outright title. If Texas wins, the teams are tied, with a few matches left.

Texas still has to travel to Mizzou.

Man, that guy is coach material. Says all the right things. Is gracious, quick to the point and "even" in what he has to say. Would not take sides on the OU and Tech game -- said he'd played them both and they are both good, and whoever takes care of the ball should win.

We all hope that Cooper is ok, her recovery is quick and that she's back on the court soon. Good luck to Nebraska its always a great environment when they come to town and I believe these matches helps both programs work toward their goals.

Sadly, Kori Cooper tore her left ACL in the match against Texas. She will undergo surgery on Friday 11/ 21 and she is lost to the team for the remainder of the season.

Yep, that's a big bummer for us, but mostly for her. And Coach Cook is right, our depth has definitely been compromised with these two injuries.

I'd love for our team to be playing in the Four in Omaha but chances are those injuries will catch up with us before we get to the Qwest.
