Vodka-ing a Watermelon

Anyone ever done this? I am trying to get one ready for a party tomorrow. Problem is that I started it on Tuesday and it has only taken about 1/4 of the bottle of vodka. I think you are supposed to cut the hole on one of the ends but my fridge isn't big enough so I had to cut the whole on one of the sides. Any tips for getting this thing to take up the rest of the bottle by tomorrow?
 
Last time we did this, the watermelon was unedible. It was just too damn strong with vodka that no one could enjoy it. Maybe a 1/4 bottle isn't such a bad thing. Besides who really wants to get **** faced eating watermelon? It should be a fun side, like jello shots. Just a thought. Oh yeah, what time should we show up?

Yeah, I checked out both of those sites first. I'm thinking maybe 1/4 bottle is enough though. A friend of mine had good success with maraschino cherries and rum so I tried that too. Put them in for about 24 hours and man they taste bad. I'll make a second attempt with only about 1 or 2 hours and see what happens.
 
Buy a syringe. I used that for my Memorial Day party. It allows you to distribute the alcohol more evenly than cutting a hole in the center.
 
the key to infusion is to begin w/ small amounts of alcohol. you can always add more booze, but you can't always add more fruit. why not get another watermelon & used the remained on it. try packing them in an icechest up right with ice packed around to support them upwards.
i am trying a cucumber vodka infusion at home right now. i was inspired by some Turi i tried last weekend at cedar street. it was the best vodka i have ever drank- had 7 (that i remember) straight on the rocks w/ a lime.
