I haven't been able to keep up with everything and everyone the past week, so please help me with who's OV'ing, UOV'ing, and/or MBV'ing (may be visiting). Right now I have an MBV:
  • Dontavious Jackson plans to visit this weekend. This is a biggie as UT is in a (supposed) tight battle with FSU.
Though not visiting, Lil'Jordan Humphrey will make his commitment announcement Saturday on NBC5's Inside HS Sports (DFW) at 6:30PM.

Per TFB:
There could be a few recruits who show up on campus this weekend but the main guy I am expecting is Alief Elsik (TX) LB Dontavious Jackson. This is a recruitment that is tough to get a clear read on because so many had him as a lock to Texas early in his recruitment and then he seemed adamant on heading out of state for college for quite awhile. Now it seems Texas is right back up near the front as they are trending in the right direction with multiple Houston area targets including his teammate DB Chris Brown.

I have said for awhile if Jackson gets to Texas for a visit before NSD, then they will have a legit shot to land him and I still feel that way. Though you can’t count out Florida State right now as he really really likes the Seminoles.

Something to keep in mind is that Jackson’s mother hasn’t been to Florida State. She did not accompany him on his official visit back in October and he originally planned to unofficially visit Florida State with his mother this weekend before changing his plans a few weeks ago and deciding to visit Texas instead.

TFB is reporting that, with Obi gone, Texas still likes Bailor commit, Grayland Arnold. Rumors have been afloat that Arnold would visit this weekend; however, his father said that they're finished with recruiting.

Though he's not visiting this weekend (to my knowledge), TFB thinks there is a high probability that ATH Lil’Jordan Humphrey will announce his UT commitment tomorrow night. Texas is in his final 3 with Wisconsin and TT.

Don't tell him I said this, but can you imagine the abuse he'd take from his friends if he chose Tech?
"Awwwww, is Lil'Jordan gonna go TT?"

I know... I need to get back on my meds.

The pair from Houston Alief Elsik high school, national top-100 Dontavious Jackson (LB) and national top-450 Chris Brown (S), are in town on an unofficial visit since last night, and hanging out with the Texas players, as per their own periscope and multiple sources. D-Jax is down to Texas and FSU (about 50-50), and Chris Brown is supposedly pretty much a lock for us. But Jason Higdon had said yesterday that there is a "handler" who is pushing D-Jax to FSU lately. Why is it it that in a majority of cases, these handlers are not in our favor, I wonder... Anyway, it seems the handler is not visiting with him. That is good. But Charlie is on the road doing in-home visits today, and I am not sure when these two will get to see Charlie. Probably tomorrow (Sunday). So, D-Jax is left for Malik and company to reel in, and hopefully his friend Chris Brown will recurit for us too.

Per an admin at HS:
Oh man...... Just heard first-hand that the staff is VERY confident about almost all of the remaining targets on the board. Get your popcorn ready.......

247 updated their 2015 Football Recruiting Composite Team Rankings this past week which factors in the schools' attrition. So, where did Texas end up after the losses of Cherry, Clarington, Johnson, and Lampkin?

Numero tenno (#10). The best out of all the schools in the State. And that was after a 6-7 2014 season.

I'm still staking the claim that we end up this year with a Top 10 or Top 15 class. Wednesday can't come soon enough!

Quiet Period is today (face2face only on the college's campus) followed by a Dead Period which runs Monday-Thursday (yes, the day after NSD).

Per Higs:
Texas has now improved the average star ranking to 3.53 and it will continue to climb. They way I am projecting and I can't believe I am actually trying to predict the average star ranking but 3.70 + is what I am thinking today.......Yes, they will continue to climb the rankings until they are sitting in the Top 10.

I have never understood the reasoning behind the services rating classes based on total points. It seems that the average "star" rating is a much better indicator of the strength of the class. The number of signees by a given school depends heavily on how many schollies a team has available. Yet the rankings are heavily weighted by the total number of signees as well as the star rating. I've always paid more attention to average star rating.
That being said, Coach Strong's ability to thoroughly evaluate a player's ceiling even brings the star ratings into question. Witness the fact that at Louisville he had two three star players picked in the first round by NFL teams.

I'll settle for "neer errbody".:hookem:
Seeing how little news or confidence is coming from other schools' sources about a good majority of these dozen odd guys, I feel that "neer errbody" is almost certain, as of now. But still we have 3 days to go, and crazy stuff can always happen. Keep the seat-belt fastened.

I can not get to the numbers on Rivals but believe they take only the top 20 recruits to come up with the average stars. If you plug in a few four stars and give us more than 20 it is easy to see we would wind up with a top 10 class with a average star of 3.50 or so.
