Virginia ?

Virginia stormed through the anteater regional, not losing, yet has to go to Oxford Missiissippi to play the super. Miss. lost one game on its way to winning its regional.

I'm guessing Miss. is hosting the super because they were a #1 seed and Virginia was not a number 1?

could be. could also be that Virginia didn't bid for a super-regional...or that Mississippi's bid was more attractive.

Yes. Mississippi is a #1 so they get to host if the national seed doesn't advance. The NCAA is probably happy about that since Mississippi usually draws 8000+ a game while Irvine can seat about 2500 on a good day.

UVa's stadium only holds 3500 and doesn't include a visitor's locker room, which couldn't have helped our chances to host a regional or a super regional. Oh well - onto Ole Miss.

It is not at all uncommon to dress for games at the hotel when you're playing at smaller stadiums and/or tournaments. I've played on UVa's and every other D1 field in the state of VA (albeit 20+ yrs ago) and none had a visitor's locker room.

UVa has got some great pitching this year. They are #3 in ERA at 3.19 behind #1 ASU at 2.79 and #2 Texas at 2.83 ...
