The best part of my day on Thursday was being able to visit with Mr. D who was at the Exes tailgate.

He's 91, now, and in great shape and sharper than all of us put together. He recalled all the names of people I've long forgotten.

We spent an hour talking about all his years at THE University. I always saw him as the reason our "presence" is what it is today. He made the LHB what it is.

May GOD continue to BLESS YOU, Mr. D.

you MADE MY DAY!!!

I wish the LHB directors would go back into the archives for the 2010 season and get some of DiNino's (and Hejl's, and Rhodes') shows -- both the drills and the music. Then do an entire season of historical SHOWBAND shows.

Hmmm ... that's a good idea ...

The Mrs. and I saw Dr. Dinino as we were going into the stadium. He looked great. I agree with Texanne - some of the old shows he designed would be a big improvement (did anyone really enjoy listening to the band play Led Zeppelin this year?). One song they used to play was The Sinfonians and it always made the hair on the back of my neck stand up - it was awesome!

Amen to going back to real marching. "Throwback" season of shows almost sounds good enough to keep me from going to the Exes center for a beer at half.

If the LHB did some of DiNino's old shows, they'd have to mothball the sprarkly flags and get out the old ones that just say TEXAS on them. Then, they'd have to get rid of the dancing flag corps and get people who can snap a flag. After that, everything else would seem easy. I'm all for it.

The LHB shouldn't do a season of Vincent R. DiNino halftime shows, they should do a decade of Vincent R. DiNino shows. It is great to still see him show up and lead the band in the Eyes once or twice a year-a great Longhorn.
