Vince Young 'hurting inside and out,' mother says

I pray he finds the answer to his problem.

This is a good example of why a star NFL player needs to have a real agent. Vince needs someone to tell everyone around him to shut the **** up, and he needs someone to get him what he needs and do it in a professional and discreet way.

Both on the field and off, Vince has always shown his best when the challenges seemed the most difficult. Don't forget the 2004 Missouri game when he his ability was widely questioned, he came out with a monster game against Tech and never looked back.

Metro Police report on Young

"On 09/08/2008 at approximately 2030 hours SWAT officers responded to #1 Titans Way to support Central Precinct officers with a check on the welfare call. SWAT officers were tasked with checking various locations utilizing unmarked vehicles in an effort to locate a subject for the purpose of checking his welfare. At approximately 2300 hours we were advised that the subject in question had made contact with Jeff Fisher and agreed to meet him at the Titans practice facility located on Great Circle Road in the Metro Center area. We were tasked with responding to that location and provide security for the arranged meeting. At approximately 2335 hours the subject in question (Vince Young) arrived at the Titans Practice facility. Crisis Negotiators made the initial contact with the subject as he sat in his car. Shortly after the initial contact the subject exited his vehicle to continue the dialog with the crisis negotiators. SWAT officers approached Mr. Young and checked his person for weapons. Mr. Young agreed to continue talking with officers inside the practice facility in a conference room. SWAT officers stood by outside of the conference room while Mr. Young talked with officers and a psychologist. After meeting with the psychologist, Mr. Young left the practice facility by himself in his vehicle. SWAT officers were then relieved of any further duties."

I'll give VY the benefit of the doubt, afterall I haven't seen an interview or quote directly from him that reflects this BS. Having said that I will be disappointede if it comes to fact that VY has taken the approach of quitting, being despondant etc... we all have bad times & doubts and face adversity. I have two key thoughts here... 1) keep it to yourself... don't let others (media, team, public see ur frustration/fear) see it. 2) It's a sport & ur being paid millions... we aren't talking about losing ur job or wanting to quit because of unjust conditions & subsequently not having income or raise a family.

I think he'll be fine regardless of where he's actually mentally at right now. He's VY... Superman.

Agree about doctor/patient confidentiality. At first I thought this was no big deal, but after reading more about it, I am becoming more and more concerned about Vince and his state of mind. I pray he can work his way through this.

So I'm in this bar with Michael Caine as the bar tender and I have this drink, and I'm a little dizzy... and I wake up.. and...

1) Vince stays his final year and Horns win back-to-back championships. McCoy gets playing time. The hit at K-State and followup loss to aggie never happens. McCoy has great 2008 year and Horns in the title game again.

2) VY wins Heisman and goes No. 1 in the draft to a surprise team (fill in the blanks) that trades for the number one spot.

3) VY has an oustanding rookie year (last year) and is off to a great start this year after going deep into the playoffs last year during his rookie season.

A small change in destiny by not rushing off to the NFL would have altered destines in an amazing way. As it is, VY now has to live with his third season on a defensive-minded Titan's team in a strong division, under an owner that has no clue how to pull a Jerry Jones and assemble fantastic talent around fantastic talent.

I doubt one more year under Brown would have fixed his mental weakness. Let's face it, he was god in Austin; in the NFL, he's an alsoran until he proves himself. I think the fact that he has to prove himself all over again at a much higher level is too much for him.

Does Brown raise men or racehorses on his team? Ricky, Cedric, now Vince? Not to mention the yearly run-ins his current players have with the popo.

Won't matter to anyone, but to some it doesn't make Mack and UT look good.

halfcreek raises some good points. His posts are unbiased, well thought out and carefully articulated.

Obviously Vince should have gone to Baylor.

Given Baylor's stunning success in the past 2 decades (what is it, about 6 SWC championships, 9 Big 12 Championships, 5 BCS Bowl victories, 2 National Championships, and recruiting classes in the top 5 something like 12 of the past 15 years), I can understand his point of view. Not to mention the terrific performance of the basketball team, in particular Carlton Dotson's leading the Bears to the NCAA Championship while being named Tourney MVP, about 6 years ago, we at UT can only marvel at Baylor's success, look up to Guy Morriss as a great coach and role model, and enjoy while fearing the Bears' absolute domination over its Big 12 opponents. I believe Baylor is something like 55-6 in the Big 12 since its inception, no?

Good stuff!

As for VY, last ditch is to trade him at a bargain price to Houston. He might go there for peanuts, get comfy with the ex-QB coach, and start over. Being in Tennessee is now bad, bad news for him.

I never thought he'd be instantly successful in the NFL and I feel sorry for him. He's a great guy who for the first time in his life possibly is having people diss him. Once he figures it out and gets through it, I see great things. Maybe not worth his salary now, but I still think a great investment once he gets into the right situation.
