Vin Scully on MLB

Been a long time since I heard the legendary announcer call a game. On MLB TV tonight - Dodgers vs D-Backs. Surely most legendary announcer now that Ernie Harwell is gone. Maybe was anyway.

Has no sidekick. Only guy talking - and he's non-stop. Hardly a breath drawn. There is no dead air. And he's doing dual broadcast with tv/radio.

Check it out.

It's amazing that he can do it that well at that age. When you consider that Milo can barely talk (and even less describing the actual game), it amazes me how Scully is on top of everything.

Good one! "And the Mets have put the crowd of 55.007 through the wringer."

One Horn blew the Save for the other Horn.

My grandfather was the radio engineer for Vin & Jerry Doggett when the Dodgers first moved to LA in the late 50s. Grandpa died between games of a doubleheader in St. Louis in 1964. I was born in 1967. And Vin is still calling Dodger games and doing it as well as ever. The man is unbelievable on so many levels...

You're right Horn69, Vin is one of a kind. Personally he's my favorite baseball announcer of any era.

I wasn't aware of his solo act until i got MLB extra innings. Amazing at his age he can fill airtime for 9 full... Now I get to hear the guy 3-4 times a week. Quite a treat b/c i'm noty sure how long he can go on..

Thx Horn2Run. Agreed.

Wow, Max. Incredible about your grandfather. I would have heard some of his broadcasts when I was a kid in the 50's/60's. I'm sorry you never never knew him, but at least they told you about him. I can vouch for the games he engineered - they were special. Should have been more nationally televised than Dizzy Dean and Pee Wee.
