Multimedia has always been a weakness of mine, is there any tool (preferably open source and small) that can let me take a screenshot from a Divix encoded video file? jpg/gif is preferable and with as little visual damage as possible.

Use the Print Screen key, man.

Whenever I want to take a screenshot from a DivX video (or any other video, for that matter) I just load it in Virtualdub and do a print screen into Paint. Crude but works fine. Virtualdub is cool because you can get the exact frame you want by using the cursor keys and you can resize the video dimensions any way you want before taking the screenshot.

print screen does not work even in the windows I use in the lab at work, I used media player or the winamp player and it pastes well but for some reason the acutal image in the player is not a bitmap, It is some bizarre thing. Even after I save it as a bitmap and load it it is still not an actual bitmap. If I save to jpeg it is black where the video is supposed to be. I will try it with Vdub and see where it gets me. Thanks.
