Big game today at 1pm Central against #20 Iowa State. During our last meeting in Ames, we gave up 20 turnovers and ISU shot really well. Control the turnovers and play tighter perimeter D and we win. Guard Izaiah Brockington has been on a roll and can hit a lot of threes (and twos). We’ve got to stick on him like white on rice. Easier said than done, as they run a lot of outside screens and find other ways to get Brockington open for threes.

We are playing much better at home than on the road. ISU is in a bit of a slump. The Cyclones like to run a four guard offense. Solomon Young is the forward and he’s only 6’8”. Win the turnover battle and keep their three point shooting in check, and we win.

Go Horns!!!

We lead slightly in getting turnovers.

ISU is grabbing O rebounds

We are spotty at the free throw line.

Fortunate to be up at halftime.

What a low scoring game—even for us.

Ugly, slow, we’re winning, I’ll gladly take it.

The Turnover battle is going ok.

Brockington is a BA and is hard to stop.

Giving up those offensive rebounds is maddening. We’ve got to crash the boards more.

I like Mitchell’s offensive prowess, but he needs to toughen up and clean the glass. Play a little meaner down low. Hit the weights and eat the meat options at the training table.

HORNS WIN!!!!!!!

63-41

Another great conference win vs a Top 20 team. Great D. Held a Top 20 team to 41 points!!! We crushed them in the turnover battle and got lots of points off of TOs.

Player of the game — JONES

Also noteworthy — Bishop, Ramey, Carr

All the guards played great, and Bishop. It looked like ISU was taking bad shots, but that had a lot to do with the Texas D.

Sure wish they could play like that every game.

I think this is the best game of the season, overall. Especially the second half finish. Finishing has been troublesome in a few games, but not today.
Also, a big shout out to Andrew Jones. His nailing those threes was huge for the team's cause and for him personally.
ISU is not chopped liver. A legit top 25 team.

Also, I have to hand it to the home court crowd. Was noisy, and it seemed to lift the "fight" in the guys when they needed it. Hope this signals a true home court advantage building in Austin.

Congrats on a good win.

What a difference between the two ISU games!

First game at Ames ISU shot:
FG 56.9
3pt 43.5

Today
FG 28.6
3pt 13.3

We shot at about the same percentage

Fun fact: fewest points by ISU hoops since 1962

While the NIT invite will be a hard pass, I am looking forward to our first NCAA tourney victory in a long time.
