VERY obscure Longhorn baseball question

Texas won their first of many CWS championships in 1949.

Behind the dish was Senior captain and 3-time All-SWC performer Dan Watson.

However, Dan does not appear in the 1949 team photo on page 108 of the
Texas Baseball program, and he is not listed as "not pictured." He's clearly one of the best players on the team.

Does anyone know why? This is not a trivia question, I really want to know the answer.

They have the year banners and the photographs mixed up for 1949 and 1950. If you look at the list of CWS champions by year, notice that Tom Hamilton, 1st base, is listed as Most Outstanding Player, yet he is also missing from the "1949" team picture. Hamilton and Watson are both shown in the "1950" photo. Watson is also listed as all SWC in '47, '48 and '49. I'm pretty sure they only played soph through senior back in those days, which would mean '49 would have been his final season playing college ball.

LITNIN is correct. But my favorite team from back then was the '53 team, when Texas finished 2nd in the CWS - but still had the Most Oustanding Player, pitcher J. L. Smith. Smitty was a great guy, and could tell some good stories about Bibb and those scrappy teams from the late '40's - early 50's.

Thanks for the responses, guys, but my problem still remains. I do not see Dan Watson's name listed in either the 1949 or 1950 photo. Am I missing something?

my bad...I just glanced at the photos and saw "Dan" on the one labeled 1950, but it is really DON Russell...don't know why Watson is not in the picture or listed as "not shown".
