Verizon FIOS Bundle

For any of you who might be stuck in a contract with a satellite/cable provider and are unwilling to pay money to break the contract AND you live in an area with Verizon FIOS TV, you might want to check out Verizon's bundles right now.

I just signed up for FIOS TV to go with my existing FIOS Internet and Home Phone. By doing so I lowered my existing bill by $10 per month and gained the ability to stream the Longhorn Network to any computer where I am by logging onto my Verizon account. I still have my DirecTV on all of my TV's at home, but I can open LHN now (tomorrow when activated) on my computer and watch Saturday's game.

Awesome! Good for you and glad you figured that out. I hope it helps others out tremendously and you get beers for your efforts. Enjoy the game!

Verizon rep told me they have no plans to install in my zip code in the foreseeable future. Looks like I'll be scouring the information superhighway for the next two Saturdays in search for the elusive feed. Looks like DirecTV will keep getting my money until some real heaway is made

Be selective and don't give it out to people that overdid the whining before. ******* should go last. Be a legend for the right reasons, not enabling the drippy.

I just tried to do the same thing and verizon wouldn't let me do it unless they sent someone to the house to activate a line.

I like directv and don't want to switch except for online access for LHN. How did you do it?

I don't know your specifics, but here is what you MUST have already: FIOS Internet run to your house.

Sign up for FIOS TV and select the stand definition box for free for 1 TV. Verizon will send a splitter that connects to your Verizon Router. Your FIOS line will run in 1 side of the splitter and your TV box will run in the other. Just don't connect the box to a TV. It's not needed. I would suggest, though, that you consider upping your wireless speed to 50/25. I don't think the 15/5 will suffice what I am trying to accomplish.

Then go to Verizon.com and log into your account and go to Online TV. Enter your user/pass and you can stream the LHN to your computer via the wireless router or you can direct connect a laptop or monitor to your router for faster speeds.

That's how the technician described it for me. My package is supposed to arrive today, so I will update after I've installed. I'm doing the install myself. Verizon said no need for a technician to come in this type of install.

Ok, it was even simpler than I had explained. My TV Box from Verizon did not arrive today as promised. So, out of curiosity, I logged on to the Verizon site, went to Online TV, selected LHN and bingo, I'm watching Cal vs Texas right now on LHN on my computer. No problem with the wireless speed. Beautiful HD on my computer screen. Damn, I am pumped for Saturday night.
