my wife got one last week, seems good so far. Keyboard is a tad small but not too much of an issue. Wish the 3G were better but haven't really had a chance to test it much.
If it is Droid as in Android you have the better phone. Just remind them that trendy as they are, they don't have open platform. They will look at you with a blank stare as they don't know what that means nor do they have the ap for it.

I hate the trendiness/arrogance of apple users so I have a bias towards them but I will say that Iphone's are relatively easily jailbroken nowadays so open dev isn't much of a problem. That being said, I was given an Iphone for my birthday a week ago and returned it to the store.
