Venric Mark moves into a new position: defensive analyst and assistant DBs coach. Until a few days ago, Mark was a recruiting assistant for UT.

Coach Mark played RB and return man for Northwestern (1st team All-American as a return man) and is a Houston native. He has worked as a recruiting assistant for Northwestern in the past, and has plenty of Houston area ties. Coach Mark previously worked at UT in the recruiting/personnel (non-coaching) areas of the program.

"Sources indicate that Mark will be working as an assistant coach on the defensive side of the ball while also retaining his role helping to recruit prospects to Texas. Mark's duties have included hosting recruits while on campus and assisting coaches in communication with those prospects. Mark was seen escorting Harold Perkins and his family while on campus, and he's also been involved with Shazz Preston and Denver Harris."

Congrats Coach Mark!

Was this just an open coaching role that had not been filled or did we lose someone from the staff?

I think this was just Coach Mark getting a promotion to Asst DB coach with more responsibilities, while before this he was jus involved in recruiting/personnel/non-on field stuff. He'll still be involved with recruiting. As far as I can tell, nobody left the staff.
