Vegas wins first PGA Tour event

Jhonattan Vegas, former UT golfer, won the Bob Hope Classic (& $900k), his first PGA Tour win!! He is a PGA Tour rookie! Congrats Jhonattan!!!

Jhonattan is the first Venezuelan to win a PGA Tour event. He turned pro in 2008 and finished 7th in the Nationwide tour last season to earn his tour card.

He's in contention this week as well at Torrey Pines. Getting a lot of good press and air time. Also a lot of mentions of his attending Texas.

He wore a Longhorn shirt on the course yesterday. He is only one shot off the lead, and they're joking about him winning rookie of the year after only two events!

Wow, it seems like forever since I got to cheer a former Horn on the PGA Tour!

He tied for 3rd today at the Farmer's Insurance tourney. Awesome job and this kid's hot right now.

Wow his game is solid. Yeah not a great shot approaching 18 on Sunday but wow, what a couple of weeks for him. Playing with the big boys.

Definitely a great start to the season for Vegas; he is playing with a lot of confidence and poise. And the season is young with just three tournaments completed, but he is the current leader on both the Money List and Fed-ex points race!
