I just got back from Vegas and have been for the past 6 years. We stayed at Planet Hollywood this year and they have the best set-up I have ever seen on their "Mezz" level. 4 giant floor to ceiling screens on each side of the room, at least 500 chairs, betting windows and full-bar with free drinks with betting comps (you get 2 or 3 tickets for every couple hondo of bets, or you can get 1 ticket a bet if you do it one at a time). Only downside is that the lines to bet the early games were long, there were no updated odds screen and it got kinda smokey when it was crowded. I have watched games almost everywhere, and the rest pale in comparison. Also, they just opened a Strip House there and it was awesome. If you have a group (we had 7), they will set you up in a private dining area with a plasma, which is where we saw the end of aggy's season.
this is obvious, but the Bellagio is the best, IMO. We went to Vegas a couple of weeks ago and spent hours at a time in the sports book there. They have many nice leather chairs, plenty of other seats, bring by drinks at a pretty quick rate, and make the best Screwdriver Ive ever had for the morning hangover. You will not regret spending time there. Unbelievably, the Wynn (which has a nice sportsbook) will charge you $8.00+ for a drink if you are not gambling at the sportsbook, which Bellagio does not do. You can literally watch games, sit back in the leather chair, and drink for free, even if you do not feel like gambling. Some places like the Wynn will only give you one free drink per bet (you actually get a voucher/token for a drink).
I was in Vegas this past weekend and Planet Hollywood looked pretty awesome. I didn't try and go to the Bellagio because most of the seats in the books I saw were reserved. Caesars has a pretty cool setup also with a bunch of leather chairs surrounding little tables with a small tv at each table, but each tv had a reserved sign around it, and it appeared that there was no seating for those without reserved tables.
I haven't been by the Bellagio book, but I would be surprised if they still have unreserved seating.
My choice is the Mandalay Bay....LOTS of room, well located bar w/ good viewing and an adjacent snack bar. So, you have easy access to food and drinks. Also, usually smaller crowds because it's at the far end of the strip. I've been to all of the major hotel SB's and this is the BEST....IMHO!!!
There are a ton of good ones, but I prefer the Hilton and Mandalay Bay. I was at Caesar's for a bit last Thursday, and then at The Mirage and Green Valley on Fri and Sat. Caesar's had a good crowd, but plenty of room, Mirage was a little packed, and Green Valley was absolutely overloaded. No tables at the bar around the sportsbook, and every seat spoken for in the sportsbook, standing room only.
I plan on being at the PH for this weekend's games.
The Venetian is super comfy, and it's never so packed that you can't find a seat. If you're betting any reasonable amount on games/horses/whatever, they'll feed you top shelf drinks fast and strong. And the girls are smoking hot.
