Vegas noob...help

I know there have been a million threads on Vegas, and yes I did use the search function...but can somebody give me some quick answers. I am making my first trip there the second weekend of the NCAA tournament and have a couple questions.

1) Where do I want to go to gamble? Also, I have heard the first weekend is crazy....is the second week better as far as being able to find a place to sit and watch games, particularly Texas?

2) It is my lady friend's birthday on Vegas and told her I would take her anywhere she wanted to go...she of course said I pick. Where should I take her?

3) Any other words of wisdom?

1.) I hear Mandalay Bay has a great sports book, although I haven't personally been there in a few years. The Mirage and Caesar's have nice sports books as well and are larger than some of the others, but there is still limited seating for big events like that. Get there early, or better yet, make a reservation. Caesar's I know takes them, but they might be reserved for heavy hitters...but still call. The Hilton has a huge sports book with plenty of seating, but it's off the strip a couple of blocks and north of most of the action, but it's still worth considering.

2.) Delmonico Steakhouse.

3.) It might kill you, but get around the strip and see what you like...there is literally something for everyone in that town. Get off the strip, too and go to Palms and Hard Rock for a night. Save downtown for a future trip, nothing to really see down there.

I agree with the Mandalay Bay, but like every sports bar, seating is very limited. If you want to see the Horns play, get there hours before and wait for spots to open up. The Venetian is also good and they comp your drinks if your making sports bets. There are few places that still do that.

Week 2 would be better, but still crowded. Week 1 is crazy. To get a good spot, you have to be there when the early (Easter time zone) games tip off or just stand around and wait for someone to leave.

Tons of great places to eat. For steaks, Delmonico's is kick ***, but so is Prime (Bellagio) and Craft Steak (MGM). For something other than a steakhouse, Areole (Mandalay), Little Budha (Palms), Bradley Ogden (Caesars) are my favorites, but if you want to go all out, try Picasso (Bellagio), Michael Mina (Caesars, I think). Or if cash is really no issue: Guy Savoy (Caesars) or Joel Rubichon (MGM). Also think about lunch right at noon at Olives (Bellagio) and sit outside. It's beautiful and you will see the first fountain show right next to you. Bouchon (Venetian) is great for breakfast and also a nice light dinner outside.

If you want to not gamble for half a day or so and dont' want to golf, think about an ATV excursion in the Valley of Fire. We did a couple of years ago and it was a blast and something totally different.

Nice tips - also making my first trip (I have no idea how) to Vegas for my b-day/Final Four.

Any suggestions on sports books, etc? Think we have everything covered.

I have no problem placing my bets and just watching it in our room if I have to.

Staying at the Venetian Fri - Sun

Fri Night - Tao
Sat Lunch - Riva (Venetian Pool)
Sat Dinner - Fix (Bellagio)
Sunday - Mesa Grill (Ceasers)

Guess tips are at 3:30 and probably 6:00 Eastern - so made dinner for 9:30 that night.

Did something change?

Every sports book I've been to comps out free drinks to anyone that's placed some bets.

Caesar's Palace is nice.

Thanks - not too worried about it - I mean it is only 2 games.

Just wanted to find the best sportsbook (free drinks) close to the Venetian.

Will bet:
Each Game Spread
Each Game Over/Under
Each game parlay - spread & over under
Four Play parlay for each spread & over under

Then place a bigger one for the NC game - (Since my Dad will be there the following weekend - can have him collect....hopefully).
