Vegas Hotels and Extra Guest Charges

We're going as a group of four to Vegas this summer for a Friday to Monday trip. The Friday and Saturday double occupancy rates for the hotels we're looking at (Harrah's and Flamingo) are something like $120 and $160, respectively, but the Sunday rate is $60. The additional two people in the room would be an additional $60 a night. We've already figured this additional cost into our budget and itinerary for the trip, but if we can cut $180 off of lodging costs for the weekend, that's another $50 or so that each of us has to spend (lose?) elsewhere.

So here's my question: How rigidly do hotels -- and Harrah's properties in particular -- enforce the extra guest charges? Could we book the room double occ and then ask for two beds and two extra keys at check-in (our flight is scheduled to arrive in Vegas at noon on Friday)? Is there a way we could get them to waive the extra guest fees for Sunday night at least, since it would cost just as much to get a separate room for the other couple?

They probably will enforce it if you make it obvious, but they don't go around doing bed checks. Just get 2 keys when you check in, then a few hours later go to the desk and tell them you left your key in the room and ask for another one. No big deal.

btw, summer is prime pool season in Vegas. I can assure you that Harrah's and the Flamingo are not great pool scenes. You might be wise to spend more and book a room at a property that has a nice pool scene. Most require you to have a room key, so you are not going to be able to sneak into another properties pool.

Thanks Benson. I know they don't always do that, as occasionally my old one would work when I left it in the room. That said, the easier thing is just to ask for an extra key when you check in--very rarely do they care.
