Vancouver in August

The wife and I are going to spend 8 days in early August in Seattle/Vancouver. I've got Seattle pretty well figured out but I am having some trouble deciding on the itinerary for Vancouver. We'll have 3 nights and 4 days before flying back to Texas. I noticed quite a few vineyards, does anyone have some first hand experience they can lend?

Outside of vineyards, can anyone else lend some knowledge on "must-do's" and restaurants?

Much appreciated.

3 Days? I would spend one day and one night on Vancouver Island/Victoria, and one day driving up to Whistler, seeing the sights and driving back. Spend the day in Vancouver (City) just walking around yaletown and the west end, marvelling at how cool it is. Walk around Stanley Park too.

If you are sporty, rent you some MTB up at whistler, spend the night, great food and hotels up there too.

Have not been to any vinyards, but I know they make very good Chard in BC, sure there are some good ones.

A drive up to Whislter is nice. Also a number of trails off the main road are there to hike.

They are getting ready for the Olympics, so there may be some road construction, but Whistler is great, even in the summer.

Stanley Park is pretty f'd up right now - a storm blew down a ton of trees last November. I know they are working on clearing the mess right now, and it might be fine by August. Just ask around and see if enough of it is open to be worth going.

Dine at the Pink Pearl in Vancouver, and the Wild Ginger in Seattle.
2 of my favorites of the Northwest.
Granville Island can be a nice afternoon in Vancouver.
