Was in OKC on Tuesday night for the show -- drove up from Dallas. It was a diverse crowd even for OK standards. Half the people missed their trailer payment to purchase tickets, and half could purchase the trailer with the cash in their wallet.
It was a diverse group as far as age is concerned as well. I went with my 9 year old, and I didn' t feel like I made a mistake one time. He enjoys their music a lot. We were sitting beside two 15 year-olds and we had to mid-forties guys behind us. There were a lot of father-son duos, and a lot of guys trying to find one more night of bachelorhood.
The show itself was outstanding. I'm not a drum solo fan, but Alex was great. I'm more of a guitar solo guy, but I found that Eddie's solo drug on a little much for me.
They hit the stage at 8:28 and left at 10:44. They confused me with their choice of putting the guitar solo near the very end. I expected to see it around song 11 of 25. Instead, it was about song 22 of 25. Not what I was expecting.
The crowd was into it, the band was into it, and it was a great time. Anyone who likes VH will like the show. Were there some songs that I wish would have been replaced by Van Hagar tunes? Sure, but I have seen Van Hagar twice, so I'm not disappointed, and I understand the dynamics of the band as we sit here today.
