Van Halen Dallas Reviews

I enjoyed it.

Basically the Eddie Van Halen show, but that's ok.

I thought Wolfgang did fine. And Dave is as entertaining as ever. The story he told before Ice Cream Man was very heartfelt.

All in all, a good time.

I knew that my seats were in the 3rd level when I bought them. It wasn't until I got to my seat that I realized it was the very last row in the ******* building! I felt like I was watching the show from the W.
Sound was awful. When the encore started we walked down to the bottom of our section and it sounded so much better.
I'm still pissed, but not pissed enough to shell out another $90 for the show in March.

The post you quoted was a lame attempt at humor. Mr. Wizard started the other thread, and because he has a way of "derailing" threads by making negative posts, I thought I'd post something negative on his thread.

It was just a joke.

Thanks, Jive. I knew I must have missed something.

We had a great time at the Houston show last night. Two hours and most of the old favorites. DLR was his old clowning self. EVH was his old maestro self. All in all a great time.

BUT...

We were in a box suite at the far end of the arena, stage right, and the sound was pretty bad that high.

Still, it ended too soon.

I went to the show in Houston last night and the sound was terrible. It's not the Toyota Center, either, because I saw The Police there and it was night/day. Overall, it was a good concert and they played everything I wanted them to play (knowing beforehand that they weren't playing anything from the S.Hagar years).

It looks like David Lee Roth has added some hair to his head since he left Tony Soprano's poker table, and he's obviously doing sit-ups/crunches. He looked like Charlie Sheen in Hot Shots, Part Deux or Weird Al Yankovic in UHF (the Rambo skit).

Overall good show, but nowhere near worth the $150 face value of the ticket.

I sat side-stage at the Houston show last night, Row 9, and we had a great view of DLR railing on the soundboard guy early in the show. His main mike was screwing up very badly.

At one point, he motioned for the guy to crawl up on the stage, and he did, DLR told him something, and afterward it seemed to be fixed.

I do agree that the lead vocals were somewhat drowned out by the music, but hell, if I want to listen to "pure" renditions of their songs, I'll dial them up on my iPod.

The main attraction was EVH and his guitar, and from that perspective, it was a helluva show!
