I was frustrated mostly because he, once again, blew a great outing by a starter. Not just any starter, but one who is not supposed to have outings like that.
That being said, give him time. Its a long season and I think he'll turn it around.

Valverde sucks and is a grandstanding piece of **** that shows up other players. Another wonderful move by the Astros "braintrust" in acquiring this loser. I had many faults with Gerry Hunsicker but can Uncle Drayton ******* sell the team or pull his head out of his *** and bring that guy back.

Disgusting how the loser Valverde blew an awesome pitching performance by Chacon. Cooper is a moron as well. Chacon was dominant, why not let the man at least pitch to the first batter at the bottom of the ninth so he can get the CG.

HIndsisght is 20 20. Next time that situation happens Cooper will be the 1% who leaves the starter in.

We are forgetting something. We all want to point fingers at Valverde cause he did have a peice of **** game but the truth is you are no going to win that many when the offense scores 3 runs. I hate how the astros get to a lead and then coast the rest of the game. When is the last time they played a little add-on?

Valverde was what he is. A recent graduate of The Brad Lidge School for Closers.

Valverde had a league leading 47 saves and a 2.67 ERA last year. He's had a couple of bad weeks. Give him some more time.

I think Valverde may have some mechanical issues right now. He's having trouble getting the breaking ball over, and hitters are sitting dead-red on the fastball. A few of his fastballs had some movement Tuesday (like Ryan Howard's AB in the 9th), but he's certainly not hitting his spots with it. Combine that with a lack-luster slider, and pro hitters are seeing grapefruits up there. Unless you can bring it in the high 90's and hit your spots EVERY TIME, you have to have a second pitch to be a MLB closer. Even that can be tough to pull off (see Rice's Matt Anderson).

It's one thing to blow a save in a 10-8 slug-fest, but screwing up Chacon's 8-inning gem can seriously jack with a team's morale. No doubt there is some dissention in that locker room right now.
