My GF And I went to Finn & Porter Monday night and it was very good. I have never been to the restaurant and actually hadnt heard of it until a few weeks ago. The dining room is nice however the noise from the bar above can be a little much. There were a lot of hippie folk singers there on Monday night so that may have been part of it. The food was excellent. We had assorted oysters, lobster bisque, escolar, and cod. All were amazing! The only issue I had was how long it took for the food to come out. We were sitting there for at least 45 minutes between starter and entree. Overall it was a very good experience. I would rate the experience a B+.

I'm interested in other Vday dining reviews...Share if you'd like.

Chez Nous, and as always, the food was awesome. I had the escargot with crawfish as well as the lobster and sea scallop cassoulet (sp?). My wife had a salad (can't remember which, but excellent) and the tenderloin which was outstanding.

Roaring Fork . . . not our best trip there. The restaurant was freezing cold. They turned the A/C off after multiple complaints from different customers, but it never should have gotten that cold in the first place.

I had a ribeye, and my wife had beef tenderloin. Both were very good, as usual. Our waiter recommended a nice glass of cabernet for me, so that worked out well. My wife had some scallops on black bean tostada, and she said it was an "odd" appetizer. I'd call it a "B" experience.

Roy's was good (as usual), but my 9:30 reservation was delayed an hour meaning I didn't get out of there until past midnight. i should have just stay at Lil Woodrows and had the steak night.

I actually went to Outback. Had reservations at Castle Hill, but I showed my gf the menu online and she wasn't very enthused. Saved me some cash.

We went to Sullivan's. Not our favorite place to go (we normally prefer Truluck's or Roy's if we're going downtown), but my husband (well, his secretary actually

) waited too late to see about reservations and we have a connection with the GM there so we got one.

Our res was 7:00 and when we arrived (a few minutes late) there was a line snaked out the door. We waited in line for about 15 minutes and when we checked in, explained that we had been in line and, hence, were late for our reservation. Hostess apologized and said no problem, I know it's a long line, I'll let them know you had a 7:00. The couple in front of us had a 7:30 (I saw her write it down when they checked in).

They were very disorganized in how they located people when tables became available. Normally, they write down what you are wearing so they can identify you when your table is ready. That works fine when there are 30 people waiting. When there are 200, though, it doesn't work so well. The hostesses were having to go around to people and ask, are you Mr. So-and-So, until they found the right person.

Long story short, we waited until 8:20 to sit down and were only seated after we saw the couple that had been early for their 7:30 reservation being seated ahead of us. The hostesses flat out lied to my husband and told him they had a 7:00.

Anyway, once we sat down the food and service were fine. But the atmosphere was not good -- more like Olive Garden or Chili's than Sullivan's. Way overbooked and overcrowded.

This was the first time we have gone out on V Day since we've been married, and it will be the last. It is not worth it.
We've decided that next year, we're inviting some other couples over and hiring a chef to come to our house and prepare dinner.
