UTSA is ranked in the AP top 25

Getting ranked is a first. They beat Illinois, Memphis and cooked Rice. UTEP might be their toughest opponent left. I think they have a decent chance of going undefeated. QB Frank Harris won the Manning award this week. Running back Sincere McCormick ran for 184 yards against Memphis.

If only they had our talent, recruiting infrastructure, resources, money, support staff, facilities, and coaching....just imagine where they could be!!

My son and I bought UTSA season tickets and the games are a blast. The games haven’t really interfered with Texas games.
The tailgating reminds me of Texas long ago. A lot of fun.
Traylor is a hell of a coach. He doesn’t have 4/5 star talent, but the players are coached up and play hard the entire game. They play with enthusiasm and a chip on their shoulder. And…they tackle. Rodrigue Wright has the defensive line playing great.
Fun to watch. Traylor took a team in the ashes and has gone 14-5 since he has been here. I don’t think he will be here long.

Now we are getting somewhere...
The real issue isnt talent. You cannot say that when other teams are doing more with less. And the ol blame it on the coach is getting old.
I still believe there is more going on here that explains our culture of underperformance.
I've gone over this plenty of times here...not doing it again.
All I can say is from the very top down, President, AD, coaches, student body, fans, donors.....What we need is to finally gulp down a huge full dose of humility.....quit acting like we are certain we are somebody special and just be plain, unproven, unknown, no name, entry level hungry dogs who have nothing and act like it....willing to earn every little stinking thing we get until...until one day we deserve something more...because we earned it. And be willing to be humbled and do the earning one little step at a time.
We don't just need dogs on the field...we need a humbled, hungry dog culture in the stands, in leadership, and on the field.
That's right...you heard me....the answer is a humble hungry dog culture.

UTSA is no more one of the top 25 teams in the country than Louisiana was. It's now trendy to find the next lower-tier school to bump into the rankings. MAYBE Coastal Carolina belongs in there somewhere, but are they No. 14 in the nation? I don't think anyone seriously believes that.

Yeah, our losses were against better teams, so....

Not any more. Coastal Carolina lost tonight to Appalachian St.

Not sure traylor would leave for anywhere else except another Texas school. Baylor maybe, if aranda goes to lsu? I don’t know if traylor would leave the state nor do I think he does well outside the state. I think he knows these Texas high school kids well and can be successful at a place like utsa and I’m sure he gets paid well. Not sure why anyone would want to leave that situation down there if you’re successful? Great city, central Texas, great pay, get to stay in your home state that you love, what’s not to stay for??

I never liked the OT rules in college because of the way they impact betting. I would prefer one point for a FG, two points for a TD, no extra point. That helps with the O/U and the point spread.

Couple of more reasons why I think UTSA deserves its ranking. Tonight they whipped Louisiana Tech 45 - 16. They were a five point favorite. Tech lost to SMU on a last second score 39- 37, lost to NC State by seven 34 - 27 and Mississippi State 35-34. Louisiana Tech played two ranked teams tough almost beating SMU. One more fact. UTSA is the number one defensive scoring team in the country.

Traylor's play calling is better than anything we have been able to come up with in a very long time.

Ole Horn Fan just noted Traylor above....many of you already realize this I know..just wanted to remind others that Jeff Traylor, formerly asst. at UT is UTSA's current head coach.
..Coming to a larger school/possible P5 soon.

Given the expectancy of futures in the biggies these days, Traylor might opt for a legacy tenure in SA. He can recruit all the talent needed within a hundred or so miles of home, has a covered stadium for the September games and a press that loves him and SA is full of homers.
Neither Aggie or Horn are opening soon and the other Texas schools are in the Big XII, which is not going to be so big as before

It's going to be an interesting couple of years for Traylor and Sonny Dykes. What is better than they have now?

Third Ward thinks they are, but their self image has always been inflated. Crap location, zero attendance, high expectations.

Tech is a step up, but does Sonny want that?

Would either consider the Ole Miss job when Kiffen jumps to Tallahassee?

Would the convicts be interested in either Sonny or Traylor? (Face it, beggars can't be choosers, and nobody wants the job in convict Gables.)

Both Sonny & Traylor are best suited in Texas, and barring an unexpected vacancy in Southwest Tarrant County, options are slim & none and Slim is headed to UTEP.

Havent seen them play nor have I seen SMU. SMU has at least played a few teams worthy of P5 football. Not sure UTSA is in that ball park. Happy for Traylor and Wright getting some publicity but just like Coastal Carolina, if you cannot play a schedule o worthy opponents then I wouldnt grade them the same. Maybe they are but who really knows.

They have won every game. Should they look for stiffer competition? Can they? It's the age old conundrum of "Yeah, they won their games, but who did they play?" This is the excitement and uncertainty of college football. If the CFP was expanded to 16 games, could they possibly be included?

Not sure anyone noticed but UTSA is on our schedule next season, Sept. 17 in Austin, the week after Alabama comes to town. Depending on Horns' SEC situation, UTSA game could possibly change, but listed for now. Perhaps that will answer a few of the questions above.
