I know with all of the football news going on it may be hard to concentrate on basketball season. But that game last night reminded me of this past football season. Just a poor all around performance on both sides of the ball. It also seemed like Coach Barnes was not interested for the most part while the USC coach was out of his chair the entire game. I saw J'Covan Brown give one hell of an effort, everyone else...not so much.

I hope this is just a fluke and not a sign of things to come.

They are in the middle of finals and this week was not a good time for us to face that offense. We haven't looked good in our last 3 games now, but I am not going to worry too much about this one.

Negatives: Offense - couldn't shoot for **** (starters less than 33%). Thompson - invisible. Bogus - invisible. Defense - lit up by USC. USC big men had a field day.

Positives: FT% excellent. Assist to turnover ratio excellent. Thompson completely shut down by opponent's big men, again, may convince him that he needs another year of seasoning and strengthening before he bails. Brown
had a decent game, except he, like the others, could not hit his ***.

Finals is a bit of an excuse, but:

No offensive plan that I could see. What is the bull with four guys standing around while one guy runs his *** off to get open.

Brown has talent, but he is not a team player. Takes way too many wild layup shots.... no chance of making.

And does Hill have any idea about how to shoot the ball? I know he was playing against some bigs, but when he got a rebound he just threw it back up with no control. How about a real shot?

Barnes recruits very good potential guys, has them play good defense and seems to know nothing about offense!

It is pretty bad that whenever we would be on offense I would have no expectation that we would score. I would just hope it would not set up a transition for USC's offense. The offense is atrocious. Nothing has changed from last year. If Barnes does not have a scoring/creating PG, Barnes does not have an offense. Simple as that.

My sense is that it may be time for Barnes to hire an offensive guru assistant. he has demonstrated that he has no clue.

Well, I think his "offseason quest" of going to other coaches for advice and attempting a semblance of the Utah Jazz offense is a good start.

The biggest problem right now is we just don't have the personnel needed to run an offense like that. Thompson is a necessity and has played well, but we have no one else like him on the roster. The fact that we can't get another guy over 6'8" to help out is on the assistant coaches and their inability to recruit more than one guy a year.

I don't even need to explain the importance of the PG (Deron Williams) in a Utah Jazz offense. Unless you want to take the chains off of J'Covan, we're not going to be able to run it well. And Brown has showed that his attitude doesn't quite match up with his play level.

Hamilton needs to use more motion away from the ball to get the defenses keying on him. This would help create opportunities for the other 4 guys on the floor. But it looks like no one is really ready to step into those roles.
