Rivals 2011 Post Summer Hoops Rankings

UT's four commits in the class of 2011 all got respect this summer and are in the top 40. The Horns have to be in the running for top class overall and certainly own that distinction right now.

With interest in Texas from top big men like James McAdoo and Rakeem Christmas and the supposed package deal of Mike Shaw and Wayne Blackshear, the sky's the limit for this class.

UT's not going anywhere after that though. The 2012 Texas state crop looks like one of the best ever with guys like Isaac Austin, Winston Shepard, J-Mychal Reese, L.J. Rose, and Wannah Bail.
 
I like the guys committed so far. And, with 4 guys in the top 40, that's a better ranking than at the start of the summer. However, Kabongo is the highest rated guy and he's still only #24. That's not "top class overall" material. Top classes typically have a top 10 type, if not at least a couple of those.
 
Wow, we sure got spoiled quick. 4 top 40 players and still we're not satisfied. I know we would have been ecstatic with such caliber of a class when we first entered the Big XII or when we were in the SWC.

Where are we with LBryant Nash, anybody in the know? How is it that we have trouble securing Tx players from the Dallas urban area. We couldn't sniff players from Dallas South Oak Cliff the past couple years when they were turning out major D1 prospects.

McAdoo , 99% lean UNC
No Christmas for UT closest we come is Baylor 90% lean, then Florida.Unless Santa makes a wrong delivery .
Blackshear is a heavy lean to ILL. 90%
Mike Shaw may also end up in ILL but at this time he still has UT in his top teams.

2012
Austin would be a great get needs weight and strength.
J-M Reese more of a shooter needs to develop more of a PG pass first then shoot. Great get as a PG can explode as an undersized SG as well.
LJ Rose More of a true PG love his game and it will get better.
Wannah Bail is a great get as his skill set continues to get better and it will, good motor when I saw him.

Agree with the poster above need a top 10-15 type player for this class to be rated better when all is said and done.
 
4 in the Top 40 is absolutely amazing. I wouldn't mind if all of these guys were in that tier that are great players but can't jump to the NBA after 1 or 2 years.
 
We will not land Bail. The UT staff will not even try to mess with his "agent" Frank. You can forget about that.

If I had to guess that is why we don't land some of the Dallas guys. Certain AAU teams don't send their guys to UT for whatever reason, or we don't recruit them because we don't want to deal with their AAU coach.

What makes you think that Christmas would be a Baylor lean?
 
UT is certainly in contention for Christmas, he just cut his list a few weeks ago and Texas was still on it.

Blackshear and Shaw were interviewed a month ago or so and both said they are extremely interested in Texas.
 
Hey Just passing on information that I get through being there when they play and talk to each other. Sometimes I ask a question and get an answer. I travel alot and make alot of camps and talk to a lot of people. I forget alot about players as I see a lot of players.

Shaw does have UT on his top teams "LIST", yes. As I posted. Key word is LIST.

Did Houston just have a camp for the 150 list? Did you attend if so can you update me about a couple of players a person asked me about.

2011 Deangelo Harrison plays for Houston something.
2012 Lance Bernard combo guard from Baton Rough, LA.
Both are combo guards I think.
Anyone attend ?? Thanks for any good info.
 
I didn't attend the camp, but DeAngelo was playing for the Franchize All-Stars with Bail, DJ Griggs, Michael Carey, and Rasheed Salumaan. All are really good players in the Houston area. He also plays at Dulles H.S.

His brother was going to attend Midland JC this year, but something happened and he is already transfering. Can't remember where though.

The other guy I haven't heard about.
 
SOC didn't exactly turn out D. Arthur. Instead, he left in a malodorous cloud of academic fraud. A fine get for Bill Self.

That's exactly the reason we don't get guys from Dallas. The Dallas AAU bozos see UT as a "white" school. The main reason for this idea of us being a "white" school is because Barnes and our Assistant Coaches refuse to "play the game" with the AAU guys. And I am very proud of our staff that they conduct their recruiting in this way. If we miss out on a few studs because of that, I'm am perfectly happy with that.
 
pardon my ignorance...don't pay too much attention to hoops.

Is McAdoo Bob's kid? If so, that's a helluva bloodline. Bob could get it done.
