A good start. Penalize the Businesses

"The Supreme Court has sustained Arizona's law that penalizes businesses for hiring workers who are in the United States illegally, rejecting arguments that states have no role in immigration matters.

By a 5-3 vote, the court said Wednesday that federal immigration law gives states the authority to impose sanctions on employers who hire unauthorized workers.

The decision upholding the validity of the 2007 law comes as the state is appealing a ruling that blocked key components of a second, more controversial Arizona immigration enforcement law.

Good news.

I hope the second Az law gets there before Obama gets a chance to tilt the Court to the extreme left.

that is all that really has to be done to stop illegal immigration. penalize the employers sharply, including the soccer moms with the maids and nannies. you throw in the education component by not allowing illegals to attend public school and our illegal immigration problems would be largely over.

I have long preached that the only way to stop illegal immigration is to imprison the employers. Throw a few businessmen in prison along with the coyotes and it will not be long before their fellow Rotarians quit hiring them.

A lot of the stuff that illegals do could be done by machines and the rest can be done by Americans being paid a wage they can live on.

This bill from Arizona is so cleverly designed and likely to be successful that I am going to re read their other anti immigration bill to see if I misjudged it on first reading.

FIFY
because that is what it is about and I am surprised you posted it the way you did

Sounds good to me.

Getting the illegals out of public schools might be hard. I think the USSC has already spoken about the right of the children to be educated, or something like that.

I worry about the school part. I don't have enough information to make a final decision.

What happens when the parents find a way to stay here and the children wind up with not even a kindergarten education? Seems like that would cause a lot of societal problems/crime.

On the other hand, we probably spend billions of dollars educating children of illegals.

Almost all of our children of illegals were actually born here. I'm guessing that we can't deny them an education even if we wanted to.
