three Texans on that list : Recee' Caldwell, 5-8 G, Johnson H.S. San Antonio, TX, class of 2014; McKenzie Calvert, 5-9 G, Steele H.S. (SA),Schertz, TX, class of 2014; and Brianna Turner, 6-3 G/F, Westbury Christian School Pearland, TX, class of 2014.

Caldwell and Turner are Longhorn targets for 2014 while Clavert has verballed to Baylor, iirc. Kinda hard to see Turner as a G, though. Other possible Texas targets on the list: Diamond DeShields and Taya Reimer.

Yes that seems to be an error, watched Turner play multiple times this season and she is a dynamic interior player. Her ball handling is not good enough to be considered a guard IMO

Not many 6'3" guards at any level of play in girl/women's basketball, much less high school.

Heck, I don't think my high school's boys' team could have afforded to let a 6'3" guy not play post.

court coaches for the USA U16 team trials selected.

Among the four is San Antonio Wagner head coach Tina Camacho. Others are: Dori Oldaker (Mt. Lebanon H.S., Pa.), Kira Orr (Bullis School, Md.) and Anthony Smith (Bolingbrook H.S., Ill.)

Jill Rankin Schneider of Monterey High School in Lubbock, Texas will be the head coach of the team, assisted by Gail Hook, head mentor at Monarch High School in Louisville, Colo., and Letitia Hughley, head coach at both Mott Community College and Flint Northern High School in Flint, Mich.

Good to see some Texas HS coaches being invited to these things.

group cut down to 53 before the team is named on Monday.

congrats to the Texas girls still in the running:
Recee’ Caldwell (G) of San Antonio; McKenzie Calvert (G) of Schertz; Alex Lapeyrolerie (G) of Sugar Land; and Brianna Turner (F) of Pearland.

I have to admit I have not heard of Alex Lapeyrolerie

Nice story about the experience from the point of view of five campers with a link to a video of practice.

Congrats to Recee’ Caldwell (Claudia Taylor Johnson H.S./San Antonio, Texas) in making the USA U16 team.

She's a player that has drawn Texas' interest and has come to see Texas play at home. Kinda surprised that Brianna Turner didn't make it.

More on Recee' Caldwell from Hoopgurlz. Some nice comments on her game--looks like this came out before she was named to the U16 team.

some background on Caldwell. Didn't know she came to San Antonio from California. I thought she was a native San Antonian. Wonder who the million dollar coach with a national championship was that offered Recee' last October after seeing her play for the first time? Not too many fit that description nationally and only one in the Big 12.
