Guess I could have posted this in the "Love Wins" thread, as it addresses similar subjects. I disagree with this guy (would like to see him debate someone like, say, John MacArthur...I think he'd get torn to shreds), but he brings up some interesting points for thought and discussion.

Sorry...forgot to include the link to the USA Today article/column when I entered the original post. It is now there.

I have no opinion in the matter.

It seems that we're starting to see an evangelical shift in some of the heretofore inviolate Christian beliefs: whether hell exists and whether Adam & Eve were literal figures. They weren't, if you were wondering. Science has shown this.

So, how will Christianity handle this (the evangelicals)? How will they incorporate this into their dogma? Stick with the literal wording of the bible? That seems like a losing strategy. Classify some things as metaphor?

Actually, I read an article a while back about a geneticist who has found some kind of genetic signature which points back to all of humanity being descended from one man and one woman. That doesn't prove they were Adam and Eve but it definitely supports the base idea.

Given my above post I am quite scepitcal of these claims. Of course, we have "scientists" such as Michael Behe and William Dembski who promulgate irreducible complexity and Intelligent Design, so it is possible that a "geneticist" has said this.

Do you have a link to this geneticist's study?

What is this geneticist's religious affiliation?

Obfuscate plus cut and paste. The Hornfans debate method. Nice.

When I'm looking for answers on things unseen and the afterlife, USA Today and Rob Bell don't come to mind.
