There will be a webcast here (in Spanish) this afternoon starting around 4:30 pm central of the game between top seeds Japan and the USA. Lostman has confirmed Cat will pitch--so don't miss it.

EDIT--prior game finally over, so our game may start around 5:30

Yes, got the word last night - she is pitching, so tune in! Get those R,W,&B vibes going south of the equator!

Game looks like it is delayed, Aus/Canada in the 5th. Maybe about 30 min later or so. Check back soon.

Also the USA softball site now has a statement that you "must" use Internet Explorer to watch the webcast, but I am watching the prior game right now in Firefox with no problems.

Ankles are wrapped, eye black has been applied, I have to wear a ball cap, no visors fro me. Where did I put my glove?

Let's Go Horns, err I mean USA!!!!!!!!

gametracker--Cat had a shaky first inning--struck out first batter; next walked on three-two pitch; next bunt single--runners on first and second with one out; struck out next batter; wild pitch puts runners on second and third; struck out last batter on 3-2 pitch.

Cat's really in the groove now--those last two pitches to strike out the leftie to end the fourth had the batter completely befuddled.

61* on tv, USA softball online, Chinese food being delivered - doesn't get much better on a rainy night.

Way to go ladies!!!!!!!!!

So I am now confused, they play Canada for the Championship? Or are we in final 4 round robin?

The USA Softball Website is giving me a headache trying to figure this out.

This is a weird tourney sort of. The final 6 teams begin single elimination today, Japan and China from Pool A, and USA, Canada, Australia, and Venezuela from Pool B. Guessing here that this was to get host Venezuela one more game.

USA and Japan were undefeated going in. They played the #2 team from the opposite pool. USA will now play whoever is left standing after the last two games, most likely either Japan or Australia. This most likely is a single elimination tourney, so when you lose you are out. Same format as the Olympic games.

From ASA/USA website and Facebook notification:

Canada and Japan will play in the Bronze Medal Game at the Women's World Championship Friday in Caracas, Venezuela. Bronze medal game is at 3:30 p.m. Central. The winner advances to play USA at 6:30 p.m. in the Gold Medal Game. Good luck Team USA!

Most likely Abbott will get the start, with Catherine in relief. But that could change depending on who wins the 3:30 game.
