i'm betting the two outside backs will be changed.

I think goal scorers will be Altidore in 1st half and Donovan in 2nd

2-0 USA

If we do concede a goal, i think it'll be real worry time for our defense. Hope to see some real physical play from our boys

I would also like to see Freddy get some real time out there. He is deserving of it and I believe that one of our best weapons is being misused, and often, not used at all.

Obviously I'm very interested to see who Bob trots out in the starting 11. I havent checked Big Soccer so I'm unaware of Chings status for this game. I certainly hope we see Adu for while I try to avoid the Flavor of the Month players I honestly can't see why he doesn't get more time for us....and especially his club.

I know we will play better because, well...as Gem said...you can't play worse and secondly we'll be home (although I'm not sure how the crowd will be split).

Dempsey dribbling and diving equals an early goal for Honduras. Put Freddie in the game and move the ball. Not good.

Looks like my comments about Clint on the Costa Rica thread were a precursor to that terrible, terrible decision.

You won't be seeing Adu because he didnt make the 18 that dress. I feel like my soccer knowledge has failed me because I am constantly perplexed by what is going on with Adu. He may be immature or a defensive liability...But when he is on the field he shows creativity...attacks players...and makes the beautiful pass. I don't understand how you put Mastro and Rico out there together (although Rico is not as defensive as people make him out to be). Honduras is immediately pressing both of them when the ball comes to their feet and we are forced to bring it back towards the backs.

Casey is not showing me much effort up top...which might be attributed to nerves.

Then of course he assists on the next goal. Maybe I should just keep talking about the players that irritate me.
Casey is "good in the air' which means he is tall and worthless after that.
GOAL USA!!!

Donovan was the best player on the field and its a good thing he showed up or this could have been a devastating result. 10 points two shy of the ticos but 6 ahead of Honduras and perhaps 7 up on Mexico if El salvador holds on through 5.

With three road games in the final five the USA must win the two remaining home games and pick up 3-4 points on the road. I think Honduras will be a tougher road game than Azteca and we have never won in Azteca so 4 points will be tough even if the US gets a win in Port of Spain.

On to South Africa and what should be some fun matches with Italy and Brazil.

El Tri goes down in Aguirre's debut 2-1. So USA is 5 up on El Salvador, 6 up on Honduras and 7 up on Mexico though US has played one extra game. The result tonight in El Salvador makes the US draw down there look a little better and puts Mexico dangerously close to realistically missing automatoc qualification and avoiding the 5th place Conmebol team. They could be looking at a huge problem as they must still go to San Jose this fall and already have road losses to US, Honduras and now El Salvador. That August match with US will now be even bigger.

Sorry, Dempsey just drives me nuts. There are times when he is selfishly playing with the ball instead of continuing to move it. It isn't really about picking on him, but we lost the Costa Rica game early by trying to dribble around players and make individual plays and, as it was pointed out during the game, if we don't learn from those it will repeat itself. Casey was equally as bad, but Dempsey is the more capped and experienced player and more is expected from him. Onyewu got turned around but that ball and player were coming on him with pace due to the turnover, several on the night by Clint.
Donovan again was the best player on the field, and we are fortunate that he showed up.

Mexico is shockingly close to epic meltdown regarding their national team. If they don't win their game on Wednesday, we could walk in Azteca with a chance to put a nail in their coffin. 1899...You out there? I'd like to get your thoughts.

Gem...You seem very angry tonight. lol. 10-4 Texas and 2-1 USA...Celebrate!!!

To wrap up my thoughts tonight...quick feelings on players:
1. Please, God, let Spector be healthy from here on out. The guy is young and has tremendous talent. I want to see him at RB for years to come.

2. I think Mastro is done....however who knows if Bob agrees.

3. Adu...Still don't understand.

4. Good to see you back, Benny. It was nice to see him active and creative out there on the pitch.

5. Once again, the "Replace Ching" crowd saw another one of the players they've been yelling for come up and do absolutely nothing.

6. I'm confused as to what direction Bradley is taking the team now.

Wolv:

Also wanted to say I agree 100 percent with respect to Spector, Benny, the "Replace Ching" crowd and Coach Bradley.

Spector was solid defensively and combined well with Dempsey on the overlap.

Benny made some incisive runs and his chip into the box to Dempsey deserved a better result (

Apparently, Ching tweaked a hammy before the Costa Rica match. Sure hope he's back soon. We've also lost Edu's services--he's out for three months. He might not've been featured in the Confederations Cup, but we certainly could've used him for the Gold Cup. With Mastro's sudden decline, we're rapidly thinning in one of the places we can least afford it.

As for Adu, I see him more as a "super sub" right now. He absolutely deserves more PT, though. Maybe something's going on in practice that we don't know about?

Some of Bradley's recent lineups and substitutions have been real headscratchers.
