USA company turns down BO contract

Desert Tactical Arms turned down a 15 million $ contract set up by BO admin to sell arms to Pakistan.

"In 2013 we faced a moral dilemma that I wanted to get some opinions on. The current US administration is sponsoring FMS arms sales to Pakistan forces. In 2013 We had been approached with a multi-million dollar opportunity to legally supply sniper systems to Pakistan. I was never in the armed services but we employ several military veterans. Our greatest fear was that our equipment might be used against US troops. I started this company to protect Americans not endanger them. In consulting with other arms companies the general responses I got was, if they don't buy it from you, then they will get it somewhere else, or money is money. After much internal review we elected not to sell to Pakistan. I wanted to throw this out to our military friends to see if our concern was legitimate and hear your thoughts on it.

It's a nice PR campaign to state that "we don't sell guns to guys who could use them to kill US soldiers," but the reality is slim that those weapons would be used to do so. Now, the guy's going to get a couple thousand extra hits on his website and sell some more stuff than he did last month.

Because of the advent of social media, this stuff was unheard of when Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush, and Clinton were selling weapons to people who could potentially use them against us. I think we should be out of the arms dealer industry all together, but that's just me. Gun makers have to make a living selling them somehow.

I'm not above calling out executive branch sales flaws for any administration, let alone Obama's. F&F was retarded, although also irrelevant considering the type of program that was (not a bid for selling). This business owner comes across looking like a patriot for his 3800+ Facebook "Likes" and is going to get more click-thrus to his site now. All because of his "moral dilemma." He has no proof that these (or any) weapons that he sells are going to be used against the U.S.

Please just do some research. There are many credible knowledgeable people and orgs that have reported Pakistan is the training ground for terrorists. insurgents. rebels from all countries, whatever you want to call people who go to paki to train to kill.

If only there was this consternation when Republican Charlie Wilson was arming what would eventually become the Taliban. Of course, they were our "friends" then just like Sadam was our ally.

For pure practicality sake, there is a reason that the Taliban carry the Kalishnakovs they do. Durability, cost and availability is all in the AK-47's favor. It's a real concern that Pakistan supports the Taliban. Now, would they be so obvious as to hand over these weapons to the Taliban? That's a stretch for the same reason that Charlie Wilson ensured that Israeli weapons rather than American weapons ended up with the Taliban. Plausible deniability. Ultimately, Pakistan still wants and needs our "aid".

BTW You do know that Wilson's A Dem, plan was to thwart the Russians fighting in Afghanistan in 1980 and at that time I don't think anyone knew the mujahadeen ( sp) would turn out to be the Taliban years later
WE DO know Pakistan camps are training arming and sending fighters to Afghanistan and most of the other muslim hot beds

Mea Culpa. I wrongly attributed his party. It was the fact that he was doing exactly what Project for a New American Century (Neocons) espoused that threw me off. Yes, I know exactly what Charlie Wilson was doing and why we was arming the mujaheddin.

First and foremost, I think it's dangerous to be in bed with any ME/Persian government as any could be toppled by hardline militants at any given time. Pakistan would be at the top of the list with this danger.

Forgive me if I am skeptical to the motivations of this company. I'm skeptical of any company that seeks publicity centered on political viewpoints.
