I don’t know TC….I kind of side with Solo on this. Chastain got to speak her opinion (as opposed to facts) to a live world-wide audience. Solo just gave hers in reply and in defense of her squad. That is a good leader. And I like the fact she does not hold back once the gloves are off. I would have done the exact same thing. I myself have never been impressed with Chastain as a reporter either. Her thought process is antiquated as women's soccer has indeed changed a lot sinced she played. And I too kinda wish she would STFU on most occasions.

But if we must strap a gag ball in Hope's mouth, then so be it. I volunteer

If you disagree with Chastain, or don't like her style/commentary, turn down the volume. If you're Solo, ignore it. She's now given given Chastain gravitas it she did not have before.

Hope and Brandi go back a long way. Brandi was at the forefront of the "Shun Hope" campaign at the World Cup when they started Scurry, who got her *** kicked. Since then, Brandi is hyper-critical of Hope's goal tending, which is pretty ridiculous since she is well known as the best keeper in the world.

What Hope said after the WC final, was pretty much verbatim what Scurry had said after being benched at the previous Olympics, but no one but me! took the time to hunt for the exact quoted and post it. You want a goalie to believe they can make any save, and to be in goal for the huge game. Horrible decision by the coach, for Brianna too.

Brandi was head of the "old guard" that made Hope ride in different elevators, stand in the tunnel during the National Anthem during World Cup finals, and through it all Hope has continued to beat the drum that people grow older, younger players should be given the chance, etc and she has been vilified. That is what she said about Brianna, and while we will never know what the score would have been had Hope been in goal. I would bet lots of cash it wouldn't have been 3-0.

Brandi just can't seem to let go of that era of that special team, a team I might add played v. much easier opponents as the world hadn't caught up talent-wise as they are know.

I loved that team with Mia, Brianna, Brandi, etc, but it is time to move on and admit this team is just as, if not more talented.

The most ironic thing is, Rachel Buehler really does suck! So for once Brandi was correct. I can't believe Buehler is starting for goodness sakes, I can't believe she made the squad. I think we will see many offenses going through her. She takes the first fake, and runs (using that word loosely) like a trodding elephant.

All that said--"GO USA WOMEN!!" I just wish the US men had at least qualified.
