US Open in prime time and final score

I just saw the schedule for the US open and it looks like they are gonna go for a late finish to put it in prime time. (8pm CST). Of course they are looking for a Phil - Tiger down to the wire finish.

Also, what do you think the final score will be? -5, -2 or maybe even par?

Final winning score will likely depend on weather conditions. Throw in some wind to make it even tougher and it's possible that no one finishes below par. I'm guessing the Phil will win. He knows the course, he's playing very well, and Tigger is probably not honed to the fine sharp edge he's used to playing.

It's only in primetime b/c it's on the west coast and stays light until after 8pm here.

This f'ing online coverage is really choppy for me and it's pissing me off. ESPN no live coverage until 1pm EDT/10am PDT sucks.

After day 1, the leaders are tied at 3 under. Only eleven players were able to shoot under par.

Tiger started 2nd round on 10th tee and had a hard time going 2 over par with 4 bogeys and 1 eagle. But is 4 under par on his back 9 so far. At -1 for the tournament and 1 stroke off the lead.

Currently only 7 players under par.

Tiger just bombed that Tee shot on the par 5 9th....if he can get at least a birdie he will be sitting at the top of the leaderboard going into the weekend.

Wow 280 with an iron and Tiger just stroked that drawing it back onto the green. Ran thru but a little chip for him that he could get close.

He had his tongue hanging out on that one that reminded me of MJ.

Tiger got cute with the chip and left it short, but then called the world's #1 caddy Steve Williams over for a read on the putt and drained it for a birdie.

Appleby also got a huge birdie on his final hole and will be the sole leader at -3.

Tiger is in a 3 way tie for 2nd at -3 with Mediate and Karlsson.

Phil is at +4. Tiger outshoots the world's #2 by 6 shots over the 1st 2 rounds. Phil isn't out of this yet though.

Tiger shoots a 30 on his second nine and is just one back. Is this his to lose?

Is Phil gonna put the driver back in his bag? He's not hitting many fairways.

This is my first event like this attending in person, and let me just say...BAD ***! Seeing Tiger, Phil, Vijay, Sergio, DL3 up close like that is just beyond explanation. Lots of fun today. If I could do it over again, I would have camped in the 18th green bleachers the entire day and let the golfers come to me.

I always forget just how dark Vijay really is. That man is darker than his shadow. And I'm convinced nobody has a better swing than Adam Scott. Oh, and Phil is cool as ****.

That chip shot that Scott had on the 10th was money. He was under a tree and behind a bunker with the tee close to the bunker side of the green. He chips it low under the tree and over the bunker to the far side of the green where it caught the hill and rolled back about halfway to the pin and gave himself a chance at a birdie and eventually a par save. That shot reminded me alot of Tiger.

Besides Appleby and Woods you have to like Westwood, DL3, and Mediate. Jimenez had a great round but you gotta kind of feel like he had his one great round of the tournament and will shot 74 today. Normally I would think somebody at 2 or 3 over could have a great round on Saturday and get back into the hunt but I just don't see that happening on this course.

He is for sure good. Too bad he is not great. He has the misfortune of playing with Tiger Woods. History will not even burp Phil's name in the future unless it is a trivia question.

Good freaking heavens is Tiger Woods a Golf God or what? I mean, c'mon, really Tiger? He just invents ways to enthrall, excite and entertain audiences as well as announcers. Playing through pain and utilizing talent, luck and focusness.

Seldom do I root for out and out favorites and superstars but my support for him does not waiver. Tiger Woods, y'all. It's gotta be the shoes.

Watching him is like watching MJ again. He does things that you cannot explain, He literally hit three shots today that, for most people, would be a once in a lifetime shot.

I know that 13 & 17 took a lot of luck, but 18 was a thing of beauty that just shows what Tiger can do. I am pumped that the Open will end with a Par 5.

I am pretty worried about Tigers knee though. It does not look good.

The flipside of that is he is Jordan-like and if anybody in golf today can get beyond that pain, it is him. Also, you can bet that anything and everything that can be done to him and his knee in the realms of legality has been done tonight and will be done tomorrow morning. Being the last to go out gives him extra time to recover...unless he is the first on the practice ranges as he usually is.

I know I am not missing the US Open tomorrow for sure. May have to go to some friends with a big HDTV to watch this.

I have not seen him play as up and down as he did yesterday before. Well he has actually been playing like this all tournament but on Saturday he could hit a bad drive but then recover for birdie or eagle. Double bogey 1st hole and then have 2 eagles and a chip in. Unreal.

Hope is knee holds up and he doesn't do more damage by playing thru it,b/c you know he will play thru it. More worried about his outlook after this tournament vs. just Sunday's round.

Tiger is smart enough to hit his really bad shots into the gallery where the grass has been trampeled and matted. There is no 4 inch rough there.

On a related note - my son told me he played that same course two years ago. He only shot an 84, but he was happy that he made par on the 18th.

He usually shoots in the upper 70s around Austin, Phoenix, Vegas & Biloxi, but said Torrey Pines was a really tough course.

Tiger is simply amazing. We are very blessed to be able to be a witness to his talents. His mental game and putting are off the charts. Looking forward to watching more action today. This could be a very special day.
