I know this is an Texas board, but figured y'all would understand how this type of issue transcends all of that.
Last Tuesday, 25 year old ex-BU softballer Cristin Vitek went into a hospital in Pasadena (Tx) feeling very ill. She was given antibiotics and sent home. Her condition got increasingly worse over the next 18 hours and she went to Memorial Hermann in Katy.
They diagnosed her with acute kidney failure and did not think she would make it through the night.
Over the next 24 hours, they put her in an induced coma and put her on a ventilator. They diagnosed the cause as an unusual strain of Strep-B.
Once being diagnosed, they treated the infection and her condition improved until Sunday. She has declined since then as her kidney function has fallen to approx. 10% of normal use.
Cristin was placed on full dialysis in hopes that the strain would be taken off of her kidneys. She has since fallen into an unplanned coma and is not responding to stimuli.
Please keep her and her family in your prayers and ask God that he will guide the doctors to do the best they can in this critical time.
Thanks for your understanding.
