Guys,

Here is a good article written over at Burnt Orange Nation that gives updates on how the camp went this weekend. I know some of you were trying to get some good info. Good news on Darius White, not so good on Seastrunk. I'm hoping we make a big impression with Cobbs this coming weekend.

Here is some additional info as well :

Actually the biggest attendee this coming week could actually be for the 2011 class. Aaron Green is coming, RB from San Antonio. He is considered by some to be the #1 player overall in the state for 2011, so his visit is pretty key. If we miss on Lache, trust me, this is the guy everyone will be talking about.

Seems like every year we whiff on a big time RB and then say it is okay b/c we can get the next guy next year....then the cycle continues.

^^^ Chris Whaley is now on campus with the 2009 class and Traylon Shead is verballed for 2010. On Clendon's IT post, take a look at Shead's stats and compare them to Seastrunk's. I realize Shead played 1A ball and Lache played 5A, but Shead is 4" taller, 25 lbs heavier, and only 0.1 sec slower. I'm very happy.

Hopefully Whaley is great. Just seems every year there is some big time RB (Scott, Calhoun, Johnson, Moody) that we want to some degree at some point and end up not getting.....then you hear "well there is so and so stud next year so no big deal".

Michael was the top back in the state last year accordig to rankings. Hopefully this is a case of Mack knows best or trust in Mack.

McGee is still playing below expectations. JC was as good as advertised but really needed thunder to his lightning. Still JC was the best back we have had in awhile by far. You just wouldn't think Texas would find it so hard to get a big time power back....especially with all the talent on the OL now. Hopefully this changes "next year" or one of the guys we already have steps up and becomes that elite player.

Aaron Green is a beast and would be HUGE next year. That being said, like most 16 year old running backs (some sarcasm), he seems to wear a lot of USC gear around from what I hear.

Well they had Wells the last 2 years (08 and 07). Then Pittman before that (06 and 05). 04 and 03 was RB by committee and a transition time b/c Clarrett left too early. Clarrett in 02 and then you had George in mid 90s. Robert Smith was pretty good before that.

Hopefully one of our guys just steps up this year. I'm tired of talking about it.

I wouldn't list tOSU as a team that frequently gets quality RBs. If you look at USC and OU, they have a five star coming in literally every year (USC sometimes has two). That's why you rarely see those guys struggling with their running games.

Can we please stop this debate about Whaley? Yes, he's very good. But we are referring to bringing in the VERY top guys. Even if you think it doesn't matter and Whaley's good enough, it helps when recruiting other players to the school and giving us a good rep. The point about stats between Lache and Shead was LOL, I can't believe that was actually brought up. IMO Whaley will be decent, doesn't mean we shouldn't talk about missing on other people (especially Lache).
