Here's the latest on Super Mario...

Blake Munroe of IT just tweeted that Mario Edwards listed Texas, LSU, and FSU in that order! See link below...

Things are looking good for Texas... as I mentioned after his 'OV' 3 weeks ago for the Football Banquet, he really enjoyed his visit to Austin. Over on Hookem.com, Mario admitted that he never gave Texas a chance... thinking that being in Texas, and the Longhorns, that Austin was going to be a 'country' town! He mentioned that "there are a lot of things going on down there that are just really fun." He's still committed to FSU, but also mentioned that it will come down to his last 2 visits which will be to LSU & FSU... he says he will have a decision by signing day. I liked our chances after his visit by what he said & what the other committed recruits... we'll see how all this shakes out over the next 29 days. So it appears that Ou is out of the running for the 5* DE from Denton Ryan.

He's from Denton and he thought Austin was a country town? Well, I guess as long as he plays football well, we can excuse his lack of knowledge.
 
I could not view either link but if he now lists TEXAS as his number one choice, then something significant has happened in this kids head... maybe the Mack snake oil is starting to take effect. Maybe Austin and being around some those other top recruits committed to UT has turned his head. All I know is, he was seriously committed to FSU for a long, long time. I hope we shock the recruiting world and take him away from the 'Noles.

Looks to me like he's taking a junket to cajun country to eat some good food, get treated like a king, meet some hot babes, and come on home. I would too.
 
I didn't know anything about Austin until my sister started going to UT. Its really not that surprising. What would a teenager from Denton be doing in Austin on a regular basis?
 
Well, I don't mean to disparage recruits or others who don't get out often, but any Texan who confuses Austin with a cowtown is either a shut-in or very, very ill-informed about his/her own state.

The day after update... 1/2/2012

Multiple sites are reporting that Mario leads or favors them (FSU, Texas & even LSU). So this is what multiple sites are saying today... and that Mario Edwards, Jr. is still committed to Free Shoes U. He really liked his visit to Texas and his family is OK with Mario going to either TEXAS or FREE SHOES U. He still has 2 visits to take latter this month. This will go down to the wire... BUT Texas has to love the position it is in when Mack, Diaz & Giles & Sally makes an in-home visit to see Mario & his fam!

Color me cynical, but until Edwards officially decommits from FSU, as far as I'm concerned, they still lead. UT's obviously made up some ground, and it's nice that Edwards has turned his nose up at okie and all, but it's gonna take some serious Mack snake oil between now and signing day to make this happen. Edwards being at the all-star game with all the other UT recruits right now is a good thing...he said in an interview yesterday that they're already in his ear about coming here.
 
Story in this morning's AAS says Edwards indeed lists UT first, but he has only taken one official visit, and that was to Austin. He will also visit LSU and Florida State prior to signing day. So I wouldn't exactly say this is a done deal by any means, but we do have a shot at him still. Keeping fingers crossed.

Do you think if either DGB or Mario announces Texas that it improves our chances a little bit more of the other doing the same? Or if the first one doesn't come to Texas that it hurts a little bit with the second one doing the same?
