Sunday 1:50pm UpdateFrom Josh Newberg of Noles247

Mario arrived on Friday evening and is leaving Tallahassee around 4pm today.

It was a great visit for Mario Edwards and FSU. While on the visit Mario told a couple recruits that he plans to sign with Florida State on Signing Day.

I can also confirm that this afternoon, during his sit down interview with Jimbo Fisher, Mario Edwards told him the same thing -- that he intends to sign with Florida State on Signing Day.

Mario still plans to visit LSU.

and the FloridaState.rivals is reporting that Mario was "blown away" by his visit. Ugh...

and this from the Blowu 247Sports site...

Well, according to Sooners, he is coming to Texas because he likes to party and become a bust like Jeffcoat.

Ou disintegration! Ou peeps make me laugh...

16 days & counting!

The recruitment of Mario Edwards, Jr., is down to two teams. This morning, the father of Edwards, Mario Edwards, Sr., confirmed to 247Sports and Hookem.com that the Texas Longhorns have been eliminated from the race for the nation's top overall prospect.

Good stuff. Not good news, but good stuff, as always

I've had enough a few minutes both before & after the above news and realize that Texas has a compelling offer for Edwards -- great defense and coaches, great academics, great town and it's a lot closer to home. Those may not be what he ultimately chooses. After reading the above and realize that Mack, Diaz & Giles still have an in-home visit after ME's LSU trip, I am now not quite so smug about the odds of snagging ME into the 2012 class and that the Trio has it's work cut out for them, but I still have hope that Mack & Company will keep him in Texas.

What would you expect him to tell players / coaches during his visit....haven't we heard this from Texas commits before i.e. TJ

Exactly. What do you expect him to say to the school he's been committed to for months? The fact that he didn't rule out other visits and schools after his trip is a good thing.

Good detective work there HD - as was said it is not good news for us but reality. This kid is such a beast - gawd I would like to see him in burnt orange... I am keeping my fingers crossed SOMEHOW Mack pulls off a miracle in the end and wins him... but I think this kid will sign with fsu in the end.

I always thought he was a strong lean to FSU and if he goes there, good luck and I hope he has a great career.

The Sooners' brains are still showing the ill effects of the 1930's dust bowl...

No matter where MEjr. ends up, I wish him all the best... but I don't think this thing is over, especially with Mack, Diaz & Giles with an in-home visit.

I do agree with those that posted thoughts on "what was he supposed to say" especially since his Dad is all in on FSU!! So we shall see... I'm glad that LSU is right after his trip to Tallahassee. And LSU is having their own "in-house" problems before & after the BCS game last week... their house is in a bit of turmoil with transfers & Twitter blow-ups!

SALonghorn,
The FSU Rivals group is confirming what the Noles 247Sports group is reporting... give me a couple hours and I'll be able to see what most of the Longhorn sites are saying tonight! Even with what is being reported, I don't think we are out of it by any means... and the kicker is that Ou still thinks they are in it!!

He seems to really get into the environment that he is visiting at the moment and that changes his mind about his favorite team. The unfortunate message that sends to the recruiters is to go after him all the harder and more frequently to sway him back to their university. It will be crazy as signing day approaches unless he can announce a final choice to make it stop. I guess it's a good thing that there are some rules to the process.

If I had to guess, I'm think ME Jr at one time had his mind made up that he will be going to Florida St because he just can't see a place better for him. Then he takes a visit to Austin and thinks "WOW!". So now he is trying to decide between his first choice at the beginning vs how impressed he was at what could be his new choice. Hope he stays home and plays with the good guys.

It might be an upset if we sign him, but I think he reported really liking his Texas visit, and Austin. He hasn't publicly confirmed anything about his FSU visit.
So there may still be hope, although FSU has to remain the favorite.
I listened to a recruiting show on radio yesterday afternoon, and the guys had called sources at each school, and couldn't confirm any decision at this point by Edwards. They felt he really could still be making his mind up.

The guy's family is not responding to Mack's repeated attempts to set up an in-home. Obviously, things have changed since JS rated our chances of signing him at 65%.

Simply stated, this is over. Wherever he goes, it will not be Texas.

This kinda sucks, but we shall move on...

The guys over at Hookem.com are all over it...

Well, I am disappointed but not surprised. But I wish the kid well wherever he goes, unless of course, its blow u.

Sounds like time to move on. We don't want them at Texas unless they really want to be at Texas.

Making celebrities out of these recruits sickens me anyway.

Oh well. Unless I'm missing someone, we rarely seem to get the guys that waiver from school to school. I've always wondered in these cases if it's just a highest bidder thing. No, I'm not suggesting that's the case here. It just amazes me that the same group of schools always end up with the players that bounce around - Bama, Oregon, Auburn, LSU, etc...
