Up and Under move

In the leagues I've played and/or coached, no one falls for that after about 9th grade. But I'll admit it's pretty cheap if you can get some middle schoolers (or younger) to master it.

I would have defenders not jump for pretty much entire games, unless it was to get a rebound.

I think we have a bit of a false dichotomy in the OP.

At all levels of basketball you can find plenty of defenders who leave their feet too often. Usually though, a guy just pivoting and pump faking a shot isn't going to get a defender to get out of position (although in that video the defender was never in a good position in the first place). The power dribble isn't very necessary at the end, stepping around the defender and then jumping at the rim works fine. I think dribbling to the middle and then faking the shot is more useful, b/c it looks more like you are making your move and then shooting which is more likely to draw a reaction and get the defender to leave his feet. Plus if the defender doesn't react enough, you can just keep going by him and shoot from the opposite site.

A good, effective set of post moves and countermoves is rare to see. If a guy can practice 2-3 simple ones and become a serious threat down low, then this is a great countermove to have in the arsenal.
