UNT Game

Well I still have hopes that UNT will get their season turned around since they are my long term school. But this El Kabongo kid is looking like he could be a great one and I sure hope he sticks around for several years. 8 of 10 from the line! 16 pts and 7 assists. He is beginning to take over this team.

Holmes appears to be a really nice consistent player also.

UNT shot poorly and that contributed to the *** kicking the Horns took on the boards, but rebounding is going to be a serious issue down the line. You can make up for some of that with effort, but right now the Horns are getting out hustled to loose balls. Did they even get one loose ball last night?

Brown looks like he's about to explode - and not in a good way.

Brown was terrible yesterday. We're not seeing even a sliver of what he looked like the first couple games. I think Barnes gets in his head, especially after the way we blew it against NC State. And then he goes into a "everyone's out to get me" mentality during games.

Fortunately, Kabongo picked up his game after having a really poor outing against SHSU. Wangmene was also looking good until he got hurt.

We are going to get beat pretty bad a couple times in conference. Our rotation around the perimeter is just plain bad... like worse than high school teams. On top of that, we can't rebound the misses. I guess on the bright side, a lot more of those shots are going to be made against better teams, so we won't lose the rebound battle

I'm seeing why McClellan isn't playing more. He literally stands around waiting for a play to work through him. I think the coaches are trying too hard to keep it simple with him, when he could be playing much better if he was given actual responsibilities on the offensive side. I'm also starting to understand Lewis's role. He probably hits every shot within 32 feet in practice and has a permanent green light to do whatever.

Holmes was very, very good. A frontcourt with Holmes and Ridley (assuming he ever shows up) would be our best tandem up there since Mihm/Muoneke. Hopefully without the punching. If Holmes could play for 30+ minutes, we'd be in great shape. I don't think he's quite there yet.

I had read a practice report where Barnes was talking about one of the guys - think it was Lewis - and he would actually stop practice and make them run when the guy passed up a shot. So yeah, he has the green light and then some.
