unrecognized usb devices

i moved my laptop around my apartment like i usually do and when i tried to reconnect everything back on, my external sound card failed to be recognized. i reinstalled the drivers, but the device never even shows up in the system devices list. also, there is just no recognition of the device by windows as noted by that alert sound. it's not even hubbed... what the crap?

1) try a different usb port

2) try the card on a different computer and see if it gets recognized.

no response from my roommate's computer.

did the usb port in my soundcard just die?
