I downloaded this too and yes, having the sports information is awesome... Deleted another app (from another Longhorn website not to be named) since I had this one...
Now we just need an iPhone friendly version of HornFans.com and I'm good.... (yes, Katy, I do have the "On the Fields" and "In the Stands" sections bookmarked on my home page..)
texanne, you just need to plug your iphone into a computer with itunes on it. it will check for updates and prompt you to update. you can do this without syncing so theoretically, you can do this on any computer without worrying about erasing your stuff.
there were a lot of enhancements in v3 of the iphone software...you should update!
oh - love the new app...it just damn looks good. i love the facebook style.
I plugged my phone into my computer here at work, which has iTunes, but it never did anything except try to download my photos from the phone. I never got a prompt about upgrading the operating system.
I am so scared that I am going to ruin my phone that I am afraid to even click on anything on the iTunes site.
I suspect it has to be the computer where it's normally synced. Then you need to launch iTunes if it doesn't launch automatically. iTunes will tell you if it needs an upgrade.
That's really nice, but I can do the same thing on my Blackberry Storm. All I need is about 2 hours to kill looking all that info up on different websites using my amazing web browser (assuming I don't have to pull the battery to reset my phone more than 2-3 times).
Texanne, a much easier way to install the app, without messing with a computer, is to install it directly from your iphone. Click on "App store" on your iphone, then click search, and type in "Texas." It's the 2nd listed app in the search results.
Click "The university of texas at austin" in the search results (again, it's the 2nd listed result), then click the longhorn icon which appears, then click the little blue button in the upper right hand corner which says "FREE." That button will change to a green button which says "INSTALL." Click that button again.
It'll prompt you for your itunes password. Enter it in, and whammo, the thing will install right to your iphone. Obviously, you have to have a 3G signal or be in a wifi hotspot, but it's much easier than dealing with itunes (which is a bloated POS of a program).
