Uniforms

Forgive me if this has been previously posted. But, I have several questions about the Nike Pro Combat uniforms.

1. Is the number on the helmet a permanent change? I hope not.

2. Why are other teams such as LSU changing colors? Or is this just for one game?

I can see changing to the light weight unis but, to change colors. I mean, the uniforms LSU wore last night were not throwbacks. They were just different. I thought I was watching the Huskies.

Hopefully this is not an omen of things to come for college football. The NCAA is rich with tradition and I would hate to see them go the way of the NFL and MLB in terms of uniforms. The NFL uses throwbacks too often and the teams change colors too often. Even in MLB it's often hard, at a glance, to know which team you are watching. Some things don't need to change just for the sake of change. We don't all want to be the Oregon Ducks. Don't mess with tradition! Please, keep the road whites and the home unis just as they are.

It was a one game only promotion by Nike. Nike paid the bill and the team gets to keep ths uniforms. VT wore theis a second time. Some teams may wear them for the bowl game. I imagine msot will be auctioned off.

Most of the reason for throwback togs like the one LSU sported is simply to rake in extra bucks in merchandise sales.

I actually kinda liked the throwback feel of the unis...I wouldn't mind us having a set of special threads to wear for special occasions.

Anyone happen to remember what happened the last year we wore the throwbacks with the number on the helmet?

The defensive unit and their coaches probably would like to burn anything coming out of the Ag game, including those one-time uniforms.

In a weary world of nothing but change and usually for the worst the one constant has been and should continue to be the football uniforms for the University of Texas.

While I thought the uniforms for aggy were a nice change of pace by and large I wish the powers that be would leave our uniforms alone. They are perfect.

Not exactly, the color scheme was and i thought lsu wore the gold helmet in the 50's and 60's. i liked the helmets and the dark gold.

Yeah, it bothers me when teams can't decide if their colors are yellow or gold (Mizzou).

It was a one time contract, but teams can wear them when they want now. It was simply a showcase to show what can be done graphically with the new material, which was graphically some things never seen on football unis. Most teams will get the new material with their traditional look. Some may take new unis. I thought it was great, and players usually react positively on occasions like that.

I agree, I thought ours looked very nice. I liked the number on the helmet too. It looked so natural most of the people at my house for the game didn't even notice it until I pointed it out.

I liked ours as well, and I really liked seeing OU's helmets without the paperclip. talk about a nice change. I didn't even know it was OU for a while.
